McNabb Should Go To 49ers

Tweeted this earlier, but I’m going to make the case of Donovan McNabb to be traded to the 49ers (yes, yes, I know this isn’t exactly Giants related, but it is NFC East related).

The 49ers have two first round picks–13 and 17. With the Eagles wanting a top pick, the 49ers can afford to get rid of one. The 49ers already have significant offensive threats. Frank Gore at running back. Michael Crabtree at wide receiver. Vernon Davis at tight end. With a top QB like McNabb, their offense will be at the top of the league.

The Niners have always had quarterback trouble since Jeff Garcia left. McNabb fills that need. Combine that with a defense led by Patrick Willis and you have a playoff team. You can still use that other first round pick to fill a need at safety or on the offensive line.

I still don’t get the reasoning for trading McNabb, but if he is to go, the Niners are the best place for him.

  1. what about across the Bay?

    his cousin is Hue Jackson

it would be stupid to trade for him. Because that would be giving up on Smith one year before you have to, Smith is in the final year of his contract. If smith fails next year McNabb is a free agent you could TRY and sign him then. But if Smith does well like I assume he should, the 49ers wont need McNabb. Besides if I was McNabb i would retire if the Eagles traded me, like my main man Jake the Snake Plummer. How many times has trading for a QB late in his career worked out, Im guessing not that many. I think it will backfire for the 49ers. but thats just me.

yea but any team that gets him could sign him to an extension or even the eagles could if they keep him around. I mean who would you rather have at QB Alex Smith or Donavan McNabb

Why would you want the chance of them picking before us. I doubt they gert a 1st rounder 4 him. Not that I don’t think he is worth it because if philly trades him they are pretty much done this year. He will probly end up in oakland. Mayb he can start something for them they do have a lot of talent they just need to keep mcnabb protected

Well, it was believed that the asking price for McNabb was a 2nd round pick.

Herm Edwards, on ESPN, said that the 49ers should trade for McNabb with their 2nd round pick, and then trade for Brandon Marshall with one of their 1st round picks. And used the other 1st round pick on an OT (or spiller). Now that would be a move.

Doubt any of those moves would happen, but fun to speculate.

isnt that where Carr went? Im rooting for Carr to start there.
