Instant Analysis: Linval Joseph

The Giants have taken defensive tackle Linval Joseph. I like Joseph a lot. His prospect profile is here.

Joseph is a big, space-eating defensive tackle. 6-4, 330. Incredibly strong. Rare strength. Can disrupt plays. I like that he is a hard worker and leader.

My only problem with this pick is that they passed on Penn State linebacker Sean Lee, who would have been a great fit for the Giants.  Joseph will be a nice player for the Giants. Just would have preferred Lee.

Giants are clearly building from the back out. Really upgraded the defensive line. Secondary is really good. Just need a linebacker. May end up being Brandon Spikes in round 3. We’ll see. Good pick for the Giants, though.

this draft is linebacker heavy, they might have them all rated similarly. We can still get a great one in the third round or even the 4th. I’m wondering when they’ll draft O-line.

This is one of JR’s wordt picks as far as value goes. This guy would have still been available in the 4th or 5th round. We could have taken Lee here or Butler and still had this guy when we picked on Saturday.
