Re-Setting the Giants Board

The Giants have been drafting HIGH=upside players who are young (all three have been underclassmen)

Which is not something I’m completely against, but I would have gone different directions in the two rounds. But maybe that’s the difference between a junior and senior. Senior Derrick Morgan has an array of pass rushing moves and has developed Jason Pierre Paul has not. Terrance Code well established/linval Joseph not.

let’s get to it for the fourth, fifth, sixth, and 7th rounds which start at 10 tommorrow.

Re-setting the Board.

Bruce Campbell. I’m one of the few in the world who would have been o.k with the Giants getting Bruce Campbell in the FIRST ROUND.

At this point in the draft he’s grand larceny. I’d move up to the top of the round to get him. He has all the tools to be THE Best LT in the league. And like I said about jason Pierre Paul, he always plays hard, sometimes he makes stupid mental mistakes or gets his technique off, but fourth round steal.

The rest of the targets:

TE Anthony Hernandez

I’m not in the Kevin Boss Love Fest. He’s solid. He’s not dynamic. Travis Beckum might be dynamic.

Anthony Hernandez is is another great receivingt Tight end. You hope that Beckum or Hernandez becomes dynamic. If they are both 50/50 then one should definitely be the Dustin Keller/Dallas Clark/Owen Daniels for your team while Boss is your primary Tight End.

A lot of people like BYU Dennis Pitta but BYU players take missions and are always older prospects. Sure, a 25 year old good athlete plays better than a 21 or 22 year old good athlete that’s becuase 21 and 22 year olds are idiots. 25 year olds are a little less idiotic. I don’t want Pitta.

DE Corey Wootton. Corey Wooton is nearly 300 pounds and might be able to play inside in the 4-3. If they Giants drafted Corey Wootton they could release Rocky Bernard tommorrow and serve notice to the rest of the Dline. Get with it or get stepping and go to some awful team elsewhere .

Joe McKnight

If they don’t get Corey Wootton or Bruce Campbell or are 1st round talents (Campbell for sure, Wootton towards the back end) Joe McKnight is a great pick.

CB Akwasi-Owusu Ansah or Donnovan Warren or Trevard Lindley

The Giants could use another Cornerback. Whoever is your favorite one left. Akwasi Owusu Ansah or Parrish Cox or a Walter Thurmond.

Mine is Donovan Warren Draftniks thought he might sneak into the first round with a solid pre-draft campain (he obviously didn’t). He’s just a gamer. Great value in the fourth round.

In my mock draft Trevard Lindley was my number 1 CB target for round 5. I didn’t think either of the above players would be left, but Akwaski Owusu Ansah, Donovan Warren or Trevard Lindley would be nice pickups at some point during this draft (probably round four or five)

Kyle Calloway

I think we should address the Offensive line in this round. Calloway is very good value in round 4 and should be a good starting RT in the n.F.l

Anthony Dixon

He’s a very good back. one of the few in the draft who can be a traditional number one back

Jonathan Dwyer was late 1st round mid 2nd round talent before the pre-draft process. He’s fallen off a bit.

a good pick in the fourth round.

DT Cam Thomas

I know we’ve gone a lot of DL. But Cam Thomas is good value in the middle of fourth round. A Huge run stuffer. Same thing I said about Corey Wootton Draft him and release Beranard today.

Eric Norwood

THE ONLY place I’ve seen that says Eric Norwood can play Inside linebacker is Drafttek.com but if he can he’d be a good pick. He was super productive in college, a very good tackler and good on the blitz. Can he cover enough inside? I don’t know. If the Giants think he can this is a player I want to have.

DT Geno Atkins or Arthur Jones

(see a common theme). I’m all for the Giants getting another DT in this draft and just out right releasing Rocky Bernard today just to send a message (well and becuase he’s expensive is getting old and played awful last year). I still have some faith in Chris Canty who’s a hard worker and befroe last year never missed a game in his life.

An interior OL

Ciron Black I like. Matt Tennant is the best C left and be great in Round five. Selvis Capers might be able to play guard.

WR Mike Williams, Syracuse or Riley Coopey Florida.

Not now, but round six roles around and either of these guys are available they become great values. Williams on his upside. Riley Cooper because he’ll do SOMETHING for your team whether it be special teams or whatever. Good football player Round four, I don’t love him. Round six I do.

ILB For you to Watch for all you cringing everytime the Giants don’t draft an ILB

Jamar Chaney

is kind of the ‘it’ prospect for Giants fans who want an ILB. Much like Ramses Barden at WR was last year. He won’t last much longer I dont’ think so fourth or fifth round he’s coming off the board.

Michah Johnson

already profiled. A player I like. Draft stock has been sliding (questionable speed) at the end of last year though he was considered to be playing this season to try to get into the late first round or early second round.

Phillip Dillard Nebraska

I think this is the Inside linebacker the Giants wind up with in the draft.  Unless they want a speedy lienbacker.

Dillad is talented just oft injured like Sean Lee. Dillard was very productive last year with 89 tackles 11 tackles for loss and three sacks. I didn’t prospect profile him, but we’ll see. 5th or 6th round is fine value.

Daryl Sharpton Miami

If the Giants ARE Playing cover two watch out for this guy.

from nationallfootballpost.com

fireplug inside who has good girth for his size and is tightly wound, Sharpton exhibits impressive straight-line speed and has the range to make plays sideline to sideline. He generates a lot of power from his lower half and is a physical, secure tackler.

He lacks the power to hold up inside the box as an every-down run defender, and he needs to play and in a Colts-style Cover 2 defense.

Vincent Rey ILB, Duke.

A nice pick late (7th round). Rey had a visit with the Giants so he’s clearly on their radar.

I like other players too like DT Nate Collins, Jacoby Ford is interesting, James Starks from Buffalo (RB), or Deji Karim RB from Southern Illinois, I like Charles Brown RB out of Oklahoma

Jason Fox out of Miami (OT) is interesting. Mich Pietrus offensive Guard.

For centers Eric Olsen (norte Dame) or Jon Estes Hawaii are fine picks later in the draft.

O’Brien Shoefield is a good linebacker prospect.

Dekoda Watson FSU has a ton of upside (this draft has been all about upside so far).

So there you go for some more prospects that are interesting in the draft.

I think the best values left here are going to be in the secondary and against on the DL where I think there are 8good prospect left that provide good value.

DT: Geno Atkins, Aruth Jones, Cam Thomas,  (after fourth round) Vince Oghobasse Duke, Nate Collins

DE: Corey Wootton (DT also), Everson Griffen, Greg Hardy, (after fourh round) George Selvie
