Catching Up

So, I’m back from my sisters graduation, and before I talk football, just want to say thanks for the well wishes. It was an incredible event. Obama was terrific (it was so cool seeing Marine One flying above.) And, to share with 92,000 other people was just awesome. I had some great food (please, try Kobe beef at some point. It borders on a religious experience), and was with great people.

But, this is a football blog, so we must talk football. Rookie camp happened over the weekend, and Micah Johnson was signed after a tryout. I know Jesse is really high on him, and I mocked him to the Giants in the third round at one point. He has a shot.

All the beat writers were talking about UDFA Seth Williams, a corner from Richmond. I was surprised the Giants didn’t draft a corner; he could be the guy they need.

I don’t take too much  from rookie camp. It’s not really football. I’m not concerned about JPP’s back. If it’s a problem in training camp, then maybe. But, now no. I was impressed that Phillip Dillard seemed to take on a leadership position. If he is to be the middle linebacker, he needs to take a leadership position. Good to see it happening from day one.

Someone who was at practice said how impressive Linval Joseph was, how he already looked like a pro. I think he’s going to be a steal. Just a brute strength guy.

Like I said, don’t put too much emphasis on how the rookie camp goes. Training camp is much better indicator. Rookie camp is like an advanced walkthrough. It tells you nothing. Ralph Vacchiano put a list of guys who were impressive. Read that here.

  1. Chris says:

Obama was terrific? Did you ask him about that crappy health care reform he gave us?

  2. DVision says:

Chill out Chris. In Jeremy’s previous write up he mentioned it was going to be exciting regardless your political views. Just because things didn’t go your way does not mean it’s crappy. Many people are happy about reform others aren’t.

Anyway Jeremy sounds like you had a good time. Congratulations to your sister. I remember those days! I wish I could go back to my freshman year:)
