Former Giant Norman Hand Passes Away From Heart Disease:

Former Giant Norman Hand, 37, died Friday after collapsing at his South Carolina home.

Hand’s 10-year NFL career concluded with a one-season stint with the Giants in 2004. The team released him the following offseason.

An autopsy performed on Hand over the weekend revealed the former NFL defensive tackle’s death was a result of heart disease.

He was listed as weighing 310 pounds during his time in East Rutherford, though he appeared to weigh much more than that.

  1. Steve B. says:

Sad that all these players are dieing so young, e.g. McNair, Gaines Adams, Bronocos player (think name Williams).

Side note: Found this interesting article that says more than one-third of NFL players who suffer Achilles tendon injury, do not return to the NFL. And those that did return averaged a 50% reduction in their power ratings.

Lets hope Andre Brown is the exception/out liner in that study, but the chips are definitely stacked against him. I hope he does recovery fully
