Do You Remember… Eli Manning @ WAS?

Certainly you remember this critical matchup last year, a huge game on the road for the Giants to keep their playoff hopes alive juxtaposed against a meaningless, snow covered, flailing Redskins team under the futile direction of Jim Zorn.

By the analysts’ accounts it was one of the biggest ass kickings of any first half in NFL memory… and the Giants for the last time in 2009 looked like the team we all thought they could be.  Flawless, determined, dynamic, unstoppable…. RIDICULOUS.  And Eli Manning led the boys in blue down the field for 5 straight touchdowns, drive after drive of pure bliss for every Giants fan who still thought they had a shot to move on into the post season, myself included.

From NY’s perspective, this was a bitter division rival and frankly a Redskins team that SHOULD HAVE beaten the would-be champs, the Saints, earlier in the year. But it was not to be…. and newly hired Washington GM Bruce Allen looked on at the dismantled mess of a team that the Giants ended up plowing that Monday Night, like the 25″ of snow that had to be removed for the team’s embarrassing loss to even take place.

Eli Manning in particular looked incredible.  Now you could easily give this game ball to Ahmad Bradshaw, or the offensive line in general, and one should consider Kevin Gilbride as the MVP of this night, who called perhaps the greatest NY Giants offensive game plan I’ve seen since Manning became QB.

No flukes, no lucky grabs, no qualifiers — pure execution on all cylinders from the Giants offense, led by Eli Manning in a must win game, on the road, against a bitter dision rival Redskins team packing a top 10 rated NFL defense.

Without further delay, here is Eli Manning opening a can of you know what on the Skins:

You see how he spread the ball around? I love it! I can’t wait till football season!

I loved watching this game. It was the first football I seen on the new 52 inch flat screen i got days before. And I was very tipsy on screwdrivers. All and all a good night to watch a rout.

It seems like once a year Eli just complete dominates a game, last year vs Washington, the year before against Seattle.

Side note: really nice job blocking by Travis Beckum on the Steve Smith catch around 1:05 in, before the Nicks catch. If he wants playing time, thats what he has to do.

well, the first 5 games or so when the Giants went 5-0… Eli pretty much dominated there too. But the Washington game plan worked at every single level against a very good defensive unit.
