Giants Agree To Terms With Petrus, Dodge; Claim Davis Off Waivers

Giants made a bunch of moves today. They agreed to terms with 5th rounder Mitch Petrus and 7th round pick Matt Dodge, and claimed receiver Chris Davis off waivers from Cincinnati. Terms of the Petrus and Dodge signings are unknown.

Davis, a former 4th round pick of the Titans, will compete to be the kick and punt returner. In 2007, he averaged 9.5 yards per punt return. He does have an arrest on his record, as well.  The 5-10 Davis is just another guy in the mimx to be the returner. We can’t underestimate how big the loss of Domenik Hixon was.

While signing these guys is great. I see that we waived Micah Johnson. I definitely thought this guy was an undrafted steal. Sorry to hear he had to go. Hope the Giants didn’t make a mistake letting this guy go. We couldn’t hold on to this guy for camp and sign him to the practice squad at least. Was there no one else we could have aparted ways with…

One other note: Even Coughlin said he was one of the guys that jumped out at him during OTA’s and mini camp once or twice.
