FS Kenny Phillips Cleared to be on the Practice Field

Free safety Kenny Phillips has finally been cleared to practice. The electrifying third-year pro has spent the last 11 months recovering from microfracture surgery. Ralph Vacchiano of the New York Daily News reports that Phillips will take the field Monday. The Giants will ease him into the swing of things and initially limit him to one practice per day. If all goes well, Phillips should be able to beat out veteran pickup Deon Grant for the starting strong safety job come September.
