What Can Bradshaw Do For You?

Giants fans, we may have a new number 1 running back, and his name is Ahmad Bradshaw. He’s been taking the majority of the reps with the first team in camp, and while it’s early, the consensus is that he’s going to be the starter.

But, as we all know, being a starter  as a running back just means you start the game. Brandon Jacobs will get a significant amount of carries. In fact, they may be the new Jacobs-Derrick Ward of a couple years ago.

I can think of a couple reasons why Bradshaw is the starter. One, he played better last year, through injuries. Two, Jacobs is better when rested. He’s better when he’s fresh in the fourth quarter and the defense is tired and a 6-4, 260 truck is coming at you. That’s why they won the Super Bowl. Bradshaw was the de facto starter. Derrick Ward was the de facto starter. They got away from that last year and Jacobs got hurt. Now they’re being smart. And three, Jacobs is better when he’s angry.

But what can we reasonably expect from Bradshaw? Barring injury (and he’s been injured a lot) here’s what we can expect.

275 carries. With 275 carries, there are still plenty of carries for the rest of the team. It will also keep him fresh for the stretch run. It gives him enough to be productive, but enough to take away from the other backs.

1,250 yards. That’s a number I like to see. An average of about 4.5 yards per carry. That’s a great number. Great fantasy numbers.

10 touchdowns. He’s going to share touchdowns with Jacobs, so that’s why the number is down a bit. But still a respectable number.

Now, if Jacobs can get  800 yards or more, then you have a dynamic rushing attack. How do you see Ahmad Bradshaw doing this season?

Both backs run for about, if not over 1,000 yards this year. Bradshaw makes a LOT of plays out of the backfield on plays that would have been dead balls last year. He has the ability to chip a block and get open in the flat, something we haven’t had as a weapon since Tiki roamed the backfield.

And three, Jacobs is better when he’s angry. That and Megan Good is a fox are the truest statements ever.

oh and I doubt Bradshaw will have more then 225 carries if that. Im guessing around 200-205
