Matt Mosley’s Chat Wrap:

Matt Mosley of ESPN sat down today to chat some NFC East.  Here is the link to the entire chat.  Below you will find the Giant related questions.

How do you think that the New York Giants will do in 2010?

Take a peek at the predictions, Chris. I have them reaching the Super Bowl.

Can Victor Cruz help the Giants in the regular season and will Ramses Barden ever catch a Fade pass from Eli for a TD or will he soon follow Andre Brown out the door?

If Barden figures out how to help on special teams, then he’ll stick. Cruz will be a valuable part of the special teams early on, but he’ll have a chance to make plays on offense later in the season.

Matt…what gives the Giants the edge over the Cowboys in reaching the Super Bowl?

I think the Cowboys will win the division, but I like Tom Coughlin once the teams get to the playoffs. There’s just a sense of embarrassment about last season, and this team has too much pride to let anything close to that happen again.

Thoughts on LeSean McCoy and Steve Smith for this season?

Both good players. Smith’s numbers might come down because Nicks will get off to a fast start. McCoy’s capable of breaking some big plays if Andy will remember to feed him the ball occasionally.

What does it mean about Clint Sintim’s potential that an older Keith Bulluck coming off an injury can supplant him as starter?

It’s not a great sign, Peter.

How soon does Shawn Andrews crack the starting lineup in NY?

Hopefully not soon if they want to make the playoffs.

Is Kenny Phillips the starter this Sunday?

If Phillips is good to go physically, then he’ll be the starter, according to my personal depth chart.

Do you think Eli may have a breakout year, with a group of recievers that look goo and a return of the running game

Yes, I’m kicking myself for choosing Matt Ryan over him in our ArtVandelay fantasy league.

Will Coughlin still be employed if he gets knocked out of the playoffs in the first round?

Yes

I take it you didn’t like the Andrews signing. Oh well….Anyway, how do you think Matt Dodge will do in his rookie year? His preseason was inconsistent but got better as the summer wore on. I’m not expecting a Feagles-type year, but do you think he’ll ultimately help or hurt the Giants this year?

I think there will be some major growing pains. Elite college punters such as Daniel Sepulveda out of Baylor who’s now with the Steelers learn quickly that you can’t try to kill everything. Dodge is still trying to learn when to use his enormous leg and when to simply give his coverage unit the best opportunity. There will be times when Coughlin thinks about begging Feagles to return.

do you think manningham will keep progressing this year?

He better keep making progress or Vic Cruz will take his spot in the rotation.
