Coughlin on Dodge: Patience Is Not A Good Word Right Now

Tom Coughlin, in his day after media address, had this to say about punter Matt Dodge:

Patience is not a good word right now

For some reason, this made me laugh. Snarky by Coughlin. Still, the punter situation is bad. Really bad. And unless Jeff Feagles comes walking through that door, the pickings are going to be slim.

Here’s the issue with Dodge: After the safety, when had that free kick, he hit a bomb. Had to be about 60 yards. But, when there are guys bearing down on him, he slows down his motion and can’t seem to get good hang time. I don’t know what it is. Maybe he just wants to get his fundamentals right. But, there has to be something more. Can he not handle the pressure?

I’d imagine the Giants will give Dodge one more week. If he can’t perform, then I think Coughlin will be begging Feagles to come back.

I think Feagles will be like Strahan and commit to his retirement, i would love him to come back, but he seemed to be committed to his words

We should have drafted that kid out of Michigan that the Pats took.

Maybe they can talk Ray Guy out of retirement.

People it’s a PUNTER, you don’t need Feagles or a draft pick, just anyone who’s ever punted in the NFL will look better than Dodge did on Sunday. He looked like he didn’t belong on a professional football field. You want the guy to succeed, but you can’t give him the chances if this is what he comes up with. Send him to the practice squad and bring in ANYONE who’s EVER punted in the NFL.
