Giants Colts Halftime Thoughts

The first half of the Manning Bowl has come and gone, and so far, it’s Peyton on top as the Colts lead 24-0 . The Giants have not been able to do anything offensively, and the defenses’ bend-don’t-break strategy is breaking much more often than it’s bending.

The Giants have not been able to run the ball, something the Texans did quite often and quite well last week. You would think the Giants would ram the ball down their throats, but no. They can’t get the passing game going, and the offense just isn’t clicking. They don’t look like the explosive team they did last week. It’s not even decent. It’s just awful. The offense looks out of sync and not focused. Hard to watch.

Defense does not look good. Peyton is taking advantage of the bend-don’t-break defense. Precision passing. Moving the ball down field, surgically. Tremendous to watch. Not for the Giants, though. The Giants need to get more pressure on Peyton. Make him uncomfortable. Make him move out of the pocket. There just isn’t any pressure, at all. And what’s with the running game for the Colts? Addai and Brown are just running at will. ┬áThe field goal drive was all running. They look like the 08 Giants. Just awful.

Matt Dodge had one bad punt and one great punt. A little bit better performance. Still, nothing to write home about.

The Colts offense has been surgical. Giants defense has been atrocious. Giants offense has been atrocious. Just an awful display of football. Giants can’t have these slow starts, especially against good teams. It’s going to be hard to recover from a 24 point deficit. Near impossible. If the Giants are to be a playoff contender, they need to be one for 60 minutes, not just 30 minutes. As my cousin emailed me, “This. Is. Awful.” And it is. The Giants look like a 4-12 team tonight. Not a 10-5 playoff contender. It’s becoming hard to watch. The Giants need a kick in the ass, something, to get going. Shape up, Giants. Shape up now.

Kevin Gilbride should have been fired years ago. Why is he still employed?

  2. Jared says:

    Memo to coaching staff:

Send the defense to my house, maybe I could teach them how to F’ing tackle better than you can!!
    Fewell: It’s called adjustments!
    Gilbride: You’re fired!
Coughlin: Move over, here comes THE CHIN!!!

This shit needs to change real quick……

It’s too easy to blame the coaching staff here, trust me there’s A LOT more than coaching adjustments going on here. The Giants have THE WORST offensive line in football, it’s that simple, THE WORST, and it isn’t even close, this unit is over and done with and I’m glad some team came through and really exposed it for what it is. Defensively, though it’s looked pathetic at times, you can’t blame them, they haven’t had any time off the field, even halftime probably seemed to move faster than it actually did for them. I didn’t expect to win this game, but now I don’t expect them to win EVER, and I’m going to next week’s game, I feel bad for myself, but worse for anyone with season tix. Sorry all Giants fans, we deserve better than this.
