The Giants re-sign Derek Hagan to help fill their depleted receiver core, according to the Daily News. Hagan, who was with the team for a few years, was cut in camp this year. He’ll fill in as either the 3rd or 4th receiver, and as a gunner. Ramses Barden was moved to IR to make room for Hagan

Awesome. He is capable! he is also a good special teamer. I never understood why we cut him in the first place
The Giants were stacked at WR with Smith, Nicks, Manningham, Barden they loved Cruz’s potential so they didn’t want to lose him
and then it was between Calhoun and Hagan. I think the Giants were thinking that Hagan couldn’t keep up with the booming punts Dodge could have and that if they needed another return man at some point that Calohoun would e be better than Hagan
I think the O-line is the key. We have to get healthy there. The running game is what will help the passing game get by until Smith is healthy. on the otherside the D-line needs to bring it or the defense gets awful ordinary real quick.
Why is Cruz on IR?
Cruz was not healthy.
All players say they are going to be “out shortly” but that is not always the case.
After the Giants placed Cruz on the IR an independent doctor evaluated Cruz and deemed he would miss signifcant time…at least 6 weeks, and then he’d have to get back into game shape.
At that time the Giants had five other healt hy WR and it was either use release another player or IR Cruz because that game their kicker, Lawrence Tynes was out with an injury so they had to IR or Release someone.
