Giants Redskins Game Preview

This is it. The last regular season game. The Giants are in need of a win, and some help, to reach the playoffs. Can they do it?

INJURIES:

Giants:

OUT: DE Dave Tollefson,  C Shaun O’Hara (foot), WR Hakeem Nicks (toe)
QUESTIONABLE: CB Corey Webster (ribs/knee), S Brian Jackson (knee), DT Chris Canty (neck)
PROBABLE: DE Osi Umenyiora (knee),  RB Ahmad Bradshaw (ankle), S Antrel Rolle (ankle), DE Justin Tuck (chest)

Redskins:

QUESTIONABLE:  CB Carlos Rogers (Calf), WR Brandon Banks (Knee), S Macho Harris (Hip), LB Brian Orakpo (Groin), NT Anthony Bryant (Elbow), S Reed Doughty (Head), C Casey Rabach (Shoulder/Knee),  RB Ryan Torain (Ribs), WR Roydell Williams (foot)

OFFENSE:

Banged up, as per usual. No Nicks. No Smith. Going to need to rely on the run game, and Manningham and Boss. And, no turnovers. Can’t have turnovers. No penalties. No shooting themselves in the foot. Short passes. Nothing dangerous. Hold onto the damn ball.

DEFENSE:

Will the real Giants defense please stand up? We’ve seen dominating performances, and we’ve seen awful performances. With a playoff spot in the balance, you would hope the former would show up. But, we said that last week. The run game of the Skins is weak. Focus on the pass. Rush Grossman. 6-7 guys going at him. That’s the only way. Don’t play prevent defense.

THE REDSKINS:

Redskins have nothing to play for. Maybe pride. Some guys for their jobs. But nothing on the scoreboard. They’ll come out, and give it one more whirl. The real battle for the Giants is themselves. They keep beating themselves. They’re so talented. They can beat anyone. But, they struggle. And they shouldn’t. With help needed to even get a whiff of the playoffs (A Packers loss), the Giants really need to just take care of business, and hope for the best.

PREDICTION:

Who knows with this team anymore. They are a much better team the Redskins. Much better. Will that play out? I think it will. Too much on the line for them not to. FINAL SCORE: Giants 24, Redskins 10

Green Bay will win, and I’m glad. 1) Giants may get a better draft choice. 2) Coughlin and therefore Gilbride may get fired. 3) Rodgers and GB stand a better chance of beating the Eagles in the playoffs (Giants have proven twice they can’t get it done). My season is now predicated on how well the Eagles do. Vick has conducted himself well all season – not a hot dog and quite articulate and humble in interviews. But I can’t stand the little loud mouth hot dog Jackson. Don’t want to see that little punk getting a ring. So Eagles would have to get through the Bears, GB, and either Falcons or Saints. Little tougher than if the G-Men would be there. I love my team, but they don’t have it this year, especially with Smith and Nicks out.
