Saints Release former Giants TE Jeremy Shockey

The New Orleans Saints have terminated the contract of former New York Giants tight end Jeremy Shockey. The often injured and distraction Shockey, was due about $4.2 million next season and with the emergence of Ben Graham, Shockey became expendable. The former Giants first round draft pick often had public squabbles with both Eli Manning and Head Coach Tom Coughlin. He forced his way out of New York and was extremely disliked by the media and some fans, too. Many loved his fiery attitude. However, often injured and a lot to put up with both the Giants and Saints decided to part way’s with Shockey.

Don't expect to see Shockey back in a Giants' uniform next season.

Could you find Shockey back in New York next season with the Giants? Probably not. It seems Shockey burnt that bridge a long, long time ago. He was a major distraction and QB Eli Manning was better off without him. Shockey is injury prone and aging. The Giants’ won’t resign Kevin Boss and try and sign him, too. He won’t be back. Plaxico has a much better chance of returning for a second go-around then Shockey does.  This likely won’t even be a topic of discussion. Sorry to all the Shockey fans, but it appears like the former Miami Hurricane standout will have to find employment elsewhere. He likely won’t be returning for a second stint with the Giants. He has a ton of talent, which is why he will find another team to take on the baggage that comes with him. Sources have said he’d like to play near in Miami, with the Dolphins, right near where he went to school and lives. He told ESPN that he took a physical for a team today, but repeatedly declined to comment on which team it was. Typical Shockey. Something’s just don’t change! Anywho, will keep you posted.
