Giants Interested in Tyron Smith; Other Draft Notes

The Giants are reportedly very interested in USC OT Tyron Smith. The 6-5, 307 20 year old could go as high as 12 to the Vikings. Smith played right tackle in college, but projects to the left side in the pros. His prospect profile is here

In other Giants draft news, Virginia Tech running back Ryan Williams met with the Giants at the combine. The running back, who has dealt with injuries, could be a 2nd round pick, and would be a nice complement to either Ahmad Bradshaw or Brandon Jacobs. His profile can be read here

Finally, the Giants attended Illinois’ pro day. The Illini have a bunch of draftable prospects, including Corey Liuget and Martez Wilson, who should both be first round picks. Both would be of great interest to the Giants.

Speaking of Illinois, Sporting News magazine’s latest mock draft has the Giants taking Michael Leshoure, over Ingram and Williams at RB in the first round. Profile time??

I can’t see the Giants drafting a RB in the first.
From my PoV, you can get great value at this position way latter in the draft.

Can you please profile Will Rackley from Lehigh, I keep hearing great things about him.

I like Tyron Smith but we don’t need another project OLinemen we already have Beatty, If Tyron Smith is such a big LT prospect then why did he NOT play LT in college? He played RT.

if we draft a running back in the first two rounds and we don’t get rid of 1 of our top RB’s I’m going to be highly disappointed. Honestly I really hope we don’t go running back at all in the first 3 rounds unless Leshoure is available in the second round.
