Gabbin’ With Shareece Wright!

Shareece Wright is a corner prospect who will be drafted in the middle rounds. The USC product is physical, aggressive, and could be on the Giants radar. He was kind enough to take time out his very busy schedule to talk to us about football, this entire process, and more.

GiantsGab: Describe your playing style.

Shareece Wright: I would say very very aggressive, very physical

GG: What would you say is your greatest strength as a football player, and what area do you need to work on the most?

SW: My greatest strength is playing man to man coverage, close to the line of scrimmage.  I would say that’s one of my biggest strengths, and being very physical and having the upper body strength that I do. One thing I have to work on is, I dropped a couple of interceptions, so that’s one thing, just catching interceptions and taking it the other way.

GG: Who was the toughest receiver you covered in college football?

SW: I would have to say DeSean Jackson.

GG: If you become a Giant, you’ll have to face him a lot

SW: (laughter) Hopefully that works out. Gives me a chance to show my ability against great receivers

GG: How has the training process been for the combine and Pro Days?

SW: Very long process, I’ve been going since December. It’s been good. Long process. Lot of hard work, showing up, come every day, get ready to work to get better, the showcase of your interviews is your combine, getting ready for that, and your pro days.

GG: What teams have shown the most interest in you during the draft process?

SW: The Chicago Bears, have been showing me a lot of love and the Eagles actually, and the Cowboys. I have a visit with the Cowboys, my first visit so far

GG: Is there a scheme you prefer to play in? Cover-2, Man, Press, zone?

SW: I’m pretty flexible, but I’m pretty good in zone, and I love playing man ,I love being in a recievers face, putting my hands on them.  I’m pretty versatile. I like cover 2, re-routing, taking away the flat route,  I like being in that defense as a corner

GG: Is there a pro player you really admire?

SW: Charles Woodson. I like the way he plays the game. Of course, Derrelle Revis is one of the best in the game, Cromartie. I look up to all the great corners

GG:What are your goals for this process? Specific round, team?

SW: I’m looking for a team that likes me enough to draft me, and trusts that I’m going to come in and contribute to the team, and being the best special teams player as a rookie, being the best corner on third downs. Just looking for that one team that trusts me and believes in me

Once again, big thanks to Shareece for chatting with us. His prospect profile is coming soon.

Great interview. This kid seems like he’s going to a great player one day. A professional already. Hope the Giants draft him!

        2. […] Shareece Wright is a mid round corner prospect with a healthy dose of upside. Somewhat raw, after not playing that much due to injuries. Good height/weight/speed combo. Athletic. Physical, can run well. Probably more of a number 3 corner, but, that’s a very important position. Will probably be a 3rd or 4th round pick. Not the tall corner the Giants usually look for, but is still certainly a prospect that should intrigue the Giants. They hit gold with Terrell Thomas from USC a few years back. They like big schools. Wright could be a nice number three corner. He would start out as a number 4, help on special teams and they could get increased playing time as he learns the system. Of course, check out our interview with Wright here. […]
