Giants 7 Round Mock Draft (Round 6, Pick 2)

The 2011 NFL Draft is just days away, folks. This is the sixth part of a seven series installment in which each pick for each round of the Giants’ will be profiled. I predicted the Giants’ would draft Jason Pierre-Paul, Mitch Petrus and Dennis Landolt (UDFA) last year. I had some wrong, too. I had James Starks going to them in the fourth round, but he didn’t.

With the 198th pick in the 2011 NFL Draft, the New York Giants’ select:

WR, Denarius Moore, Tennessee

The Giants have a lot of question marks regarding their wide receiving corps. WR Steve Smith is progressing nicely off of his season-ending microfracture surgery, but you can’t count on him being ready or if he’ll ever be the same. Ramses Barden is coming off season-ending leg surgery, too, and also hasn’t developed into the big play receiver they thought he’d be, either. Kick Return and sometimes fourth WR Dominick Hixon is coming off a torn ACL, so you can’t guarantee the Giants’ he’ll have that same burst, too. Hakeem Nicks, although healthy, missed three games last season with compartment syndrome and has a history of being injured (missed two games his rookie season, too). As you can see, the Giants have major question marks with their WR’s. They need depth. A guy like Denarius Moore can give them that extra depth needed.

Moore is a former high-school track star who can get deep in a hurry. A guy who will get vertical. Something they wanted when they drafted Sinorice Moss a few years back. Has tremendous hands, something that you need to be a solid third down wide receiver. Precise route runner, who would work well with QB Eli Manning.

Has his flaws, though. He is small (About 5-11). Was a bad return man at Tennessee. He should have been a big time return man with his speed. Needs to improve in the blocking area, which will not allow him to garner significant time on the field.

The Giants have shown interest in Denarius Moore, as he was 1 of 30 players who were brought him in for a workout visit. He should be there in the 6th round. Would be a solid option.

First Round Pick (19) Mike Pouncey

Second Round Pick (52) Ras-I Dowling

Third Round Pick (83) Mason Foster

Fourth Round Pick (114) Jaiquawn Jarrett

Sixth Round Pick (185) Andre Smith

Sixth Round (198) Denarius Moore
