Thoughts And Musings

Hello my weary travelers. Happy Memorial Day. Hope it is filled with BBQ, friends and family.

-I doubt the Giants sign Clinton Portis, but it wouldn’t be a bad idea. He’s not that old, and playing in a backup role could revitalize him. Does he have stuff left in the tank? Who knows. But to bring him into camp won’t hurt.

-That said, I don’t think the Giants will actually do it. Don’t think has anything left in him.

-Good to see that Steve Smith’s rehab is going well. Mario Manningham may pass him on the depth chart, but Smith is so important to this team. He’s great on third downs.

-With all this lockout nonsense, you forget how much it hurts guys trying to win jobs. Don’t you think it would benefit Clint Sintim greatly to be able to come in and workout, establish himself as the favorite to start at outside linebacker? Yes, it would. But he cannot do that now.

-Same goes for many guys on all teams. It’s the stuff that’s not reported in the newspapers, the human effects of the lockout that are what’s really important.

-Coffee interlude: I don’t like coffee. Too bitter. But, I need the caffeine to wake up. So, I’ve tried everything. Energy drinks, caffeine pills, you name it. But nothing really worked. So the other day, tried a chai latte at Dunkin Donuts. Delicious. Yes, it may be a girly drink but it wakes me up and tastes like winter. Plus, they gave me 3 free donuts, for no good reason. Quite a successful visit.

-I just realized how excited I am to watch the development of Jason Pierre-Paul. I think as he gets older and more experienced, the sky is truly the limit.

-He’s athletically off the charts. As soon as his instincts catch up, watch out.

-That’s why drafting on potential can be so great. If the player is a hard worker and wants to be coached, then you have the opportunity to mold the guy in the teams image. For JPP, it’s molding him into the next Michael Strahan.

-I do like drafting ready made guys, because you know what you’re getting. But there’s a lot to be said about drafting for potential.

-A good draft combines the two. That’s what the Giants usually do.

Well I got back from a bachelor party in Vegas at 5 am this morning. Pretty fun.

I would be for Portis coming in. What’s the risk?

My dad never drinks coffee – he’s a tea man. But he LOVES his daily chai latte from Dunkin.

–> If this was 2010, I would agree with you. But what you said was exactly what DID happen last summer, and it resulted in Keith Bulluck signing and Goff starting. And us playing a 4-2-5. Sintim was the starter last summer with no one behind him. And he couldn’t even do it. That told me a lot. My hopes for him are basically gone.

I’m excited for JPP too, but dont think he’s the next Strahan. I don’t want to be mean but he doesnt seem to have Stra’s intelligence or leadership qualities.

Thanks for keeping these up during mostly non football news. Very much appreciated. When can football start for real ?
