Posluszny Interested In Giants?

Paul Posluszny, the fine Bills linebacker, could be a free agent this year, depending on how things shake out with the new CBA. And if he is one, he might be interested in the Giants.

“Definitely, because of that connection,” Posluszny said when asked in an interview on SiriusXM NFL Radio about whether he has thought about the Giants as a potential option in free agency. “I love Coach Fewell and the type of defense that he ran when we were in Buffalo, you know, had a good relationship together.”

“I have an uncle that lives in the New York area and he just sent me a text the other day saying he’s read on the internet that the Giants is a possible spot for me,” the linebacker continued. “So yes, there’s a lot of interesting possibilities out there and the one thing about free agency, you want to know your true value… But, I mean, the Giants, along with several other teams, there are some interesting opportunities out there, that’s for sure.

Last season, Posluszny had 151 tackles, and has had 110 or more tackles in each of his last three seasons. Posluszny would be a huge upgrade at the middle linebacker position over Jon Goff, who then, presumably, would be shifted over to strongside linebacker.

Despite his interest in the Giants, it looks like the Bills are his first choice:

“I said from the start, as soon as this past season ended, that I wanted to be a Buffalo Bill,” he said. “I think they would be interested. I’ve just got to make sure that they feel like I fit in their long term plans, you know, with the type of defense they want to run and the personnel they want to have on the field.”

Posluszny, despite being a pain in the neck to spell, would be a great fit for the Giants. Will he come here? Maybe. If things with the Bills go downhill, he might like the greener pastures. Of course, all of this could be moot, if the new CBA decides that he won’ t be a free agent.

Thoughts on Posluszny?

Truth is I had originally wished we drafted him in 2007 instead of Ross. Even with his injury bug I think it probably still would have been the best pick for us (and i actually consider myself a big Ross supporter).

The guy is pure unadulterated talent, as many a Penn State LB has proved to be. Although he does seem “brittle” when he’s on the field he really is a difference maker and as you point out, he’s an improvement over Goff. He also seems extremely smart, like Antonio Pierce smart, which I absolutely love. No disrespect meant to the current LB’s on the squad at all, but I would love to have a guy like this (when mixed with Perry) take charge of the Defense along with Tuck and Rolle. Get it, Tuck and Rolle? Ok lame but you know what i mean…the guy is a leader, a player and if he’s available I have no doubt we’ll make a move.

I am a Penn State guy and I was hoping we would have drafted him too. He was and is a leader on the field and off of it! It would be great if this happens.

No doubt he would be a great addition to our LB corp.
Boley – Posluszny – Goff actually kinda looks like something.

By the way, Tulloch, Ruud or Black in that lineup would also be an improvement.
