Redskins Interested in Cofield?

Depending on how everything shakes out with the CBA, Barry Cofield could be an unrestricted free agent. With Chris Canty, Rocky Bernard, Linval Joseph and second round pick Marvin Austin on board, it would seem like there isn’t room for Cofield. If he’s going to play the field, the Redskins would be a likely suitor. Via Jason La Canfora;

New York Giants defensive lineman Barry Cofield, despite being a 4-3 player to this point, also has been the subject of offseason planning by the Redskins, who operate a 3-4 defense.

Presumably, Cofield would be a 5 technique in Washington. The article states that the Skins are interested in Santonio Holmes, Marshal Yanda, Cullen and Kris Jenkins as well. The Redskins never seem to benefit from a big spending spree, but that hasn’t stopped them in the past.

  1. Jason C. says:

    Cofield would be about as useful as Haynesworth in a 3-4, good luck Washington, there’s a team with a clue about how to win (SARCASM!!)
