Diehl To Move To Left Guard

After cutting Rich Seubert, the Giants needed a replacement at left guard. They didn’t need to look to far. The Bergen Record reports that the Giants are moving left tackle David Diehl to his natural position of left guard. In all likelihood, Will Beatty is the new left tackle.

Despite concerns over the quality of the line after cutting mainstays Seubert and Shaun O’Hara, the line is still formidable. Right tackle Kareem McKenzie is steady. Chris Snee, at right guard, is an All-Pro type player. Newly signed center David Baas was steady with the 49ers last season. Diehl, a Pro Bowl left tackle, could be an All-Pro left guard. The only question is Beatty. He has the talent. Just a question of putting it all together. I wouldn’t be surprised if the Giants brought in some veteran competition, with someone like Matt Light being a candidate

correction. Pro bowl left tackle makes all pro left guard. Not left lackle again.

Our offensive line will be more athletic, Snee and Diehl are capable of great lateral movement. Look for more pulling by our guys. Expect Diehl to blow guys off the line and Snee is always a constant. But only If Beatty does what is expected will the Giants realize their full potential.

Its scary relying on someone who is so unproven; potentially we have something special brewing on our offensive line.

    I’m excited…

    “Can’t wait”
