Dissecting What’s Happend and What Lies Ahead

Here’s a look at what happened today and what lies ahead:

Kiwanuka’s Back: The Giants said months ago that they’d like Mathias Kiwanuka back, but at a deal which isn’t to long and a deal which he can re-establish his value. They did just that. The Giants signed there defensive end to a two-year deal which is incentive based. Kiwanuka was the Giants’ best defensive player in the first three games last season, registering four sacks. The versatile DE can play inside, outside and even linebacker, giving the Giants tons of options if he’s healthy.

What Does This Mean For Osi?: Were not sure, to be honest. Osi loses leverage, though. The Giants don’t have to give him a new contract if they feel Kiwi, Tuck and Pierre-Paul can handle the load. They could try and trade him. Reports indicate he might not holdout, and show up to camp tomorrow, but will see.

Bush to Dolphins: With Reggie Bush going to the Dolphins, RB Ahmad Bradshaw will likely be back with the Giants. He’s simply lost all his leverage. Source say he would still like more money then what the Giants are offering. But without the Dolphins to prop up the offer, it’s likely a deal gets done soon.

Offer to Boss: According to sources, the Giants have exchanged contract proposals with TE Kevin Boss’s people. No word on how far apart they are in negotiations, but I believe they’ll work it out and he’ll be back.

What Lies Ahead:

Bradshaw to Sign?: I believe it’s a matter of when, not if, Ahmad Bradshaw will sign. The Giants’ biggest competition, the Miami Dolphins traded for Reggie Bush, giving the Giants leverage now. They’re still waiting to see if Jacobs will take a pay cut, which could help them sign Bradshaw and maybe…. Plaxico. Stay tuned.

Plaxico and Coughlin: Tomorrow evening is the highly anticipated meeting between former Giants WR Plaxico Burress and head coach Tom Coughlin. If things go well, Burress could be back for 2-year $10.5 million deal. We shall see.

Signing the Rookies: Almost all the rookie deals are close to being completed and should be done by tomorrow, when training camp begins.
