Reese: Plaxico Will Just Have Meeting, No Workout

Via Ralph Vacchiano twitter:

@thebluescreen: “Reese says there are no plans to workout Plax tonight. Said there’s no reason because Plax will likely look like he’s missed two years.”

I know Reese thinks that Plax will not be in the best of shape after missing 2 years, but I have reason to believe that Plax is in decent shape and if signed won’t have any problems with his fitness.

I love Plax from the glory days, but do you think we really need him? The receiving corps seems to be one of the real strengths of the team, especially Nicks.

  2. Can never have enough wide receivers. Starting WR on opening day will be Manningham and Nicks depending if we get Plax or not. Remember, Steve Smith had major knee surgery and will not be at full strength till week 3-4 maybe even later.

I trust that if they sign him his contract will be tied to passing a physical.
Beyond juste “muscles”, how is he ? Can he run a route ? Can he catch the ball ?

If they believe Plax is a better option as #4WR/situational player than Hixon, Barden, Cruz and Hagan, then sign him.
Reese’s job is to give TC the best 53 players available. If Plax is in those 53, it’s his job to sign him.

Then you have to think about the money too.

Id like to see Cruiz have the ability to prove himself. He knocked it out the park in preseason. If he can do that in the reg season he may be comp for Smith.
