Giants likely to re-sign Deon Grant

The Giants will be bringing back the veteran S Deon Grant, per the NJ Star Ledger. According to reports, the Giants will be brining back the 10-year veteran to provide much needed depth in the secondary. Grant, as you know, can be that third safety the Giants so often used last season. Grant had 72 tackles for the Giants last season. Grant also registered 3 interceptions with 10 passes defended. Big signing in my opinion.

WR Sam Giguere, who was terrific in Cap Eli, has a  partially torn groin and will likely be waived/injured to open up a roster spot. Tough blow to a kid who could have contributed on special teams.

Grant was the knucklehead who jumped up in the air as the d-line was swarming all around and about to sack Vick. All Grant had to do was stay on the ground and contain and that would not have been a 40 yard gain. Then Ross doesn’t contain on the outside, so Vick goes around for another 40. And Phillips goes for the INT and let’s the TE catch the longest TD of his career. Three bonehead plays (on par with “the fumble”) and the Eagles win. Look at the tape – all are etched in my mind.

I like the signing because it eliminates the idea of terrell Thomas playing as the 3rd safety forcing Ross to be the #2 corner in certain situations. Adds good depth in the secondary. If kiwi somehow manages to perform well at lb and Goff gets by as Middle lb, the d looks real good. The only thing we need to worry about is the stupid plays that undermined last season. Hopefully it’s not a recurring problem because talent wise this defense is great, just can’t Make dumb plays.

It’s a great move, and a necessary move. There are always lapses in judgment and it will happen again this year, what needs to happen is TACKLING, wrap up your man guys!!

huge signing! i’ve been saying all along that we needed grant back and if we didnt we were going to miss him big time. Im extremely happy to have him back, this gives Perry and the team a second chance to be more consistent and show how dominant they can really be. Cheers to a healthy season, with a healthy D the skies the limit
