That’s definitely a much better start than last week. Defense looked sharper, offense looked better. Giants go into the half leading 20-6.
The offense has been up and down, but the running game has been sharp. Jacobs had a touchdown and looked really good. Jacobs looked in midseason form, which is good to see. Bradshaw has done a good job of fighting for extra yardage. Eli had a nice throw to Victor Cruz, and a deep third down conversion to Manningham, but not a lot else going on in the passing game. Other than an early false start by Will Beatty, and a complete disregard of Kareem McKenzie by Julius Peppers, the line has been good. David Baas showed good pulling ability on a screen to Bradshaw. Pass game is up and down, for sure. Starters played a little under two quarters. David Carr came in and threw a nice touchdown to Domenik Hixon.
Defense let up some big plays, but has been pretty good. Some good pressure. Run game hasn’t done much. Matt Forte burned them on a screen and Kenny Phillips blew an assignment that led to a big Devin Hester gain. Other than that, the defense looked good. Aaron Ross was terrific covering Roy Williams, playing the best defense I’ve seen from him in awhile. Michael Boley blew up a play in the backfield. Big plays, like last year, are a problem.
Special teams featured great punting from Matt Dodge and Steve Weatherford. They’ve both been good, but equally good. No one is separating themselves. Devin Thomas looked great on returns, including a return over 70 yards. Jerrel Jernigan had one decent punt return, but still no real noise from him. Coverage started out really good, but there were a few missed tackles towards the end of the half. Michael Coe had Earl Bennett locked down, but couldn’t bring him down. Greg Jones blocked a punt and exploded to the punter to do so. Jones is following up a strong camp with a strong special teams performance.
Terrell Thomas went down late in the 2nd quarter. No word on the injury yet. But not good. We’ll update any Thomas news as soon as we get it. It did look like he banged knees with Jason Pierre-Paul. Did walk off the field under his own power. UPDATE: Terrell Thomas has a torn ACL, out for the season. Read more here
The Giants are looking much sharper than last week, which is a good sign. You want to see improvement week to week in preseason. So far, so good.

Im going to cry!! PLEASE Terrell!!! O MY GODD!! I CANT TAKE IT!! PLEASE BE SAFE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE!!!
We can’t afford to lose any more corners. Ross looked good-Phillips looked bad. New center looked good. Thomas and Jones helped their chances to make team big time.
Well the injuries continue another year, will we ever get a fair shot at a season??
