Week 10 NFC Showdown: 6-2 Giants at 7-1 49ers

Prediction – This game is all about the Giants setting the tempo early on, separating (as much as possible) the 49ers away from their conservative ways. The approach to beat Jim Harbaugh’s steaking squad is to attack the undersized corners and to bring extra safety help to challenge and combat Gore. In San Fran’s only loss this season (vs. Dallas), they allowed 427 yards via the air and were held to 74 yards (3.1 ypc) on the ground. I believe it’s essential for the road-relishing Eli to have the “green light” from the first throw on and let him take his chances against a very-average secondary. Look for Victor Cruz to be the prime beneficiary of big plays via the pass. Defensively, there’s no doubt the 49ers line can be overwhelmed (six sacks against Cowboys) and look suspect at times. Pierre-Paul and Umenyiora should both have a field day against Staley. With that said, I look for this battle to have a lot of ups and downs – so I’ll pick the more battle-tested team that is more apt to effectively adjust to adversity. Giants 21 49ers 17
