Playoff Scenario

The Giants control their own destiny. They are currently in 7th place in the NFC and are 1 game out of the division lead and 1 game out of the wild card race. As Jeremy stated earlier that it would be tough to make the playoffs at 9-7, I believe that if the Giants win both games vs the Cowboys and beat the Redskins which they should do, then they will make the playoffs. Anything is possible. Stay Tuned.

There’s going to be more than one 9-7 team in the playoffs, the winner of the NFC East, and at least one of the NFC wild card teams, look at the teams involved, their situations, and how their schedules shape up and you’ll see it’s a no brainer.

It’s pretty easy to just look at the different scenarios.

If we win out (10-6), we’re in.

If we take both vs. the Boys and lose one v the Jets or the Skins (9-7), we’re in because their 9-7 loses to our 9-7 in the head-to-head tiebreaker.

So guess what? The ONLY WAY we don’t win the East if we take both vs the Boys is if we LOSE to the Skins and the Jets (8-8) and the Boys BEAT the Eagles and Bucs (9-7). If the Boys lose twice to us, and take one from the Eagles or the Bucs (8-8), our 8-8 beats their 8-8 by the head-to-head tiebreaker.

If we split with the Boys it gets interesting. If we SPLIT with the Boys but BEAT the Jets and the Skins (9-7), we’re in if the Boys LOSE to the Eagles AND Bucs to go 8-8 OR If the Cowboys LOSE to the Eagles but BEAT the Bucs to go 9-7 because the Jets victory gives us the edge in the common-opponent tiebreaker (we tie head-to-head tiebreaker – 1 vs. 1 – and division tiebreaker – both at 3-3).

In other words, if we lose on Sunday and can at best split with the Boys, we need the Eagles to beat the Boys and us to beat the Jets. If the Boys beat us Sunday and then beat the Eagles, we’re done.
