Giants Cowboys Game Preview

Well, can the Giants take some momentum from last week? We’ll see in what is a must win game against the Cowboys.

INJURIES:

Giants:

Out: David Baas (Neck), Mark Herzlich (ankle), Spencer Paysinger (hamstringer), Osi Umenyiora (ankle), Kenny Phillips (knee)

Probable: Prince Amukamara (back),  Michael Boley (hamstring), Ahmad Bradshaw (foot), Brandon Jacobs (hamstring), Mario Manningham (knee), Dave Tollefson (knee)

Cowboys:

Out: Jon Kitna (back), Josh Price-Brent (Knee)

Doubtful: Martellus Bennett (ribs), Danny McCray (ankle)

Questionable: Miles Austin (hamstring), Tony Fiammetta (illness), Kyle Kosier (foot), Laurent Robinson (shoulder), DeMarcus Ware (neck)

Probable: Sean Lee (Wrist),  Mat McBriar (foot)

OFFENSE:

There are no problems on offense. Well, I guess if you count the running game and offensive line, but it doesn’t seem to slow down the passing game. Eli Manning is playing at an incredibly high level, along with his receivers. This is a high octane attack that can score on anyone. We saw that last week.Obviously, the running game will only bolster the passing attack, but it’s not really needed.

DEFENSE:

Here’s where the problems are. We cannot stop the pass. Our linebackers are just awful. Phillips is out, which is going to hurt. The pass rush has been fine, and Chris Canty and and Linval Joseph have really stepped up their game. But, the Giants are not able to stop people. It’s a problem. Every game is going to be a shootout.

THE COWBOYS:

The Cowboys are 7-5 and control their own destiny in the NFC East. They face the Giants twice more; if they win out, they’ll be division winners. DeMarco Murray has been a revelation at running back, and while Romo is up and down ,I think he’s better than most. The defense still features DeMarcus Ware, although he’s banged up. Their secondary isn’t great, so the Giants should be able to score. If they can keep Murray in check, that will go a long way.

PREDICTION:

Giants-Cowboys games are always intense, and this week will be no different. Giants are playing for their lives here. They have some momentum. And for some reason, they seem to play well in Dallas always. FINAL SCORE: Giants 24, Dallas 17

    Jeremy,
Unfortunately, the Giants cannot stop the running game as well. I expect to see DeMarco Murray have a big night, tonight (over 150 yards total offense). The Giants are going to lose in a high-scoring, close matchup to the hated Cowboys. It is just not in the cards this year (I.e., for the Giants to go to the playoffs).

Murray has been far from the player he was earlier in the year without Tony Fiametta. Of course odds are he and Austin return this week, seems that always happens to the Giants, teams always get healthy just in time to play us, while we continue to fall prey to further injury.

I’m trying to be positive now that I am a blogger here. I am thinking a close game, Eli does his magic and wins it on the last drive.

  5. CMH says:

pretty good foundation of players to build on but the entire coaching staff needs to go. Let Reese pick his coach. Fewell has been such a disappointment and time has passed Gilbride and Caughlin by.

  6. CMH says:

    OK- Coughlin can stay!

  7. PC says:
