Giants Jets Halftime Thoughts

Well let’s all put a present under the tree for Victor Cruz this Christmas, because he’s saving the Giants bacon.  A 99 yard touchdown catch towards the end of the half puts the Giants up 10-7.

Other than Cruz, it’s been awful. No run game. Dropped passes. But hey it only takes on play, and Cruz has done it. He’s been such a savior this season; where would the Giants be without him? Of course, he can’t do it alone, and the Giants are going to have to pick it up. Have to stop the mistakes. Get the run game going. Brandon Jacobs had one angry run, and that’s it. More of that please.

Defense started off awful, and that 12 men on the field penalty that negated a TD was awful. But they’ve been able to hold the Jets a bit. Some of that has to do with Jet ineptitude, particularly with Sanchez overthrowing everyone. Nothing really spectacular, but they’re keeping themselves in the game, which is more than previous weeks. Pierre-Paul played well, as usual. Coverage was better, but I’m not sure how much that has do with Sanchez. The Cruz TD seemed to give them some momentum.

The Giants just have to keep improving here. Get Cruz involved. I like the strategy of putting Barden on Revis, because that leaves Nicks and Cruz a bit more open. Start to maybe run the ball. And keep this sort of bend, don’t break defense. If so, they can overcome a putrid half to win a big ball game.
