Jason Pierre-Paul named NFC Defensive Player of the Week

For the second time this season, New York Giants defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul has been named the NFC’s Defensive Player of the Week, the team announced on Wednesday.

Pierre-Paul had five tackles, including a pair of quarterback sacks, in last Saturday’s 29-14 win over the New York Jets.

A 2010 first-round pick out of South Florida, Pierre-Paul has started 11 of 15 games this season and ranks third on the team with 81 tackles with a team-high 15.5 quarterback sacks. Pierre-Paul has 22 tackles for a loss, 26 hits on opposing quarterbacks, six passes defensed and two forced fumbles.

On Tuesday, Pierre-Paul was named to his first Pro Bowl.
