Thoughts and Musings

Hey we’re in the playoffs! Not sure I thought that would happen but here we are.

-Hope you and yours have a healthy and happy 2012. Feeling big things this year.

-That was a dominant first half, on both sides. Would love to see it for 60 minutes.

-I’m not sure where the Giants would be without Victor Cruz. I mean, how many games has he won? The Jets game. This game. Maybe more. For him, to be an undrafted free agent, to work his on the roster and to become a star, is a great story. He has been elite this year.

-I thought Eli was great. Avoiding pressure. Making big throws. Big time performance in a big time game. MVP of this team.

-Kiwanuka was terrific, particularly early. Breaking up plays behind the line of scrimmage. Huge

-Boley made the stop of the season. That 4th down, Cowboys driving, chance to tie, and he breaks up that 4th and 1. Jumps over the line and stops Romo. Huge play.

-Rolle made a play, a big one. Backed up his talk big time.

-Great to see Osi back and effective.

-Bradshaw played well, as he’s been doing in recent weeks. That will be key moving foward.

-Jaicquan Williams also played well. He has been doing that the past few weeks. Coming into his own.

-The Giants showed up, which was a question mark. If they play with this energy and swagger against Atlanta, it will work out nicely.

-Atlanta is dangerous. Matt Ryan. Julio Jones. Roddy White. Michael Turner. Lots of weapons. They can score. And defense isn’t bad too. They’re a good team.

-But if the Giants can control the ball, keep the ball out of Atlanta’s hands, make some timely plays, they’ll be fine.

-But they can’t rely on Cruz for the big play. He can’t do everything. You have to be able to score other ways.

-I’m surprised Mario Manningham didn’t do much. Wasn’t involved.

-Nicks and Cruz are a great duo. You can’t double one, because the other will kill you. They’re pretty much unstoppable one on one, so having both kills defenses.

-Loved seeing Pascoe and Hynoski get involved. Use all the people you can.

-The Giants are in the playoffs. That’s a start. Now we can see if they can make a run. I think they can, if their pass rush holds up. But there are a lot of good offenses. And we have to stop them. So that’s a test. And it will decide if they can win in the playoffs.

-Let’s enjoy this win, but let’s start to focus on Atlanta. Plenty of that on the site to come.

You forgot Baas who pretty much owned Jay Ratliff. I liked the play they showed of Baas suckering him in and the RB running right by him.

In a 3-4 if your DT/NT is going to penetrate and play one gap the linebacker must take that other gap, he didn’t.

Baas was a great signing by Reese, too bad he had some injury issues this season. Our offensive line will look different next year and I think he’s a good anchor and will be for a few years.

    Boothe played well too.

The D# is starting to play some good football at an important moment of the season, so that’s a good thig going on through the playoffs… but Aaron Ross makes me nervous, he’s a constant liability, let’s just hope he drink some of that magic poison that Webster drank during the ’07 title

I hope Plaxico Burress and Steve Smith enjoy watching their former team in the play offs.

Oh and Jeremy I can see you haven’t read my blog about the receivers…LOL. Manningham has regressed, last night he dogged it on one of the catches Nicks made at the end of the game. He has dissapeared because it seems if he is not going to get the ball he dogs it on his routs. You cannot have a successful passing game when the other recievers do not sell the play. Everybody must do their job and then block for the player that does have the ball.

I think something is going on in Manningham’s head, maybe he’s a little envious of Victor Cruz. He’s not playing well and does not look like he is putting the effort in that he needs to. He might be gone next season. Manningham is a talent receiver, what’s up with him and Barden?

I have a feeling they are going to let Manningham go and try to develop Jernigan. But Manningham is only 25 years old. In fact all of the Giants receivers are 25 or under except for Barden at 26 and Hixon who might never come back from those knee injuries. Is Clayton still on the team?

Here’s a thought, it’s nice that I haven’t heard anyone talk about our receiver Hakeem HICKS (or is it Nakeem?) in a while.
