Giants Re-Sign Terrell Thomas

Good news. Terrell Thomas has re-signed with the Giants. The deal is for 4 years, $28 million. $11 million is guaranteed.

Thomas was necessary because of the impeding loss of Aaron Ross. He’s coming off an ACL tear, so we can’t expect him to be the same corner he was, but if he is, he’s an upgrade over Ross as a number 2 corner. Prince Amukamara now becomes the third corner. One more corner is needed for depth but the Giants are much better off now than they were yesterday.

Ross has not really lived up to his hype. He was rated as a tad less than Revis. Reese wanted Revis but did not pull the trigger on any trades to get him, I think that was a mistake, not 20/20 hindsight I thought it was then.

I think he learned from that. I don’t think Ross will resign, he wants big money and Reese knows he’s not worth it. I like Ross as a person but honestly he has just not done it on the field.

See how much the C’Boys gave Brandon Carr? Is he that good? Guess Ross will get paid too, not as much, but someone is going to pay him.

Glad to see Thomas resigned. I didn’t think he would get that kind of contract after the injury. I would have loved to have seen him on the team last year.

I’m not even sure that they need to add depth at corner. They have Witherspoon, Tryon, Coe, and (possibly) Bruce Johnson coming back from injuries. Either can play in the league, and they should all be fighting for 2 roster spots so I’m not sure it’s that important of a move.
