GiantsGab 3rd and Final Mock

Here it is. Draft Day. And this will be our final mock. Our first mock is here. Our 2nd mock is here.

WITH THE 32nd PICK IN THE 2012 NFL DRAFT, THE NEW YORK GIANTS SELECT…

NICK PERRY, DE, USC

I have some concerns about whether Perry is here. A lot of teams could use him as either a 43 DE, or a 34 OLB. But, with the late rise of Chandler Jones and Shea McClellin, Perry could be there at 32. And if he is, the Giants should pounce. Perry has awesome speed off the edge, and is beginning to develop a spin move that could prove deadly. The Giants can afford to bring Perry along slowly. It will also allow them some flexibility with Osi Umenyiora. Perry is perhaps the top pure pass rusher in this draft, and I think at 32, it will be a steal. The Giants love to beef up the defensive line, and adding Perry would do just that.

WITH THE 63RD PICK IN THE 2012 NFL DRAFT, THE NEW YORK GIANTS SELECT…

JOSH ROBINSON, CB, CENTRAL FLORIDA

The Giants need cornerbacks. Yes, they re-signed Terrell Thomas, but coming off an injury, he is an unknown. Josh Robinson is a super talented cornerback, who absolutely blew up the combine. He’s athletic and fast and can also return kicks. He’s a bit raw, but he can be brought along slowly. Just like you can never have enough pass rushers, you can never have enough cornerbacks.

WITH THE 95TH PICK IN THE 2012 NFL DRAFT, THE NEW YORK GIANTS SELECT…

CHRIS GIVENS, WR, WAKE FOREST

The Giants need to replace Mario Manningham, at least in terms of production. Givens is a good bet. He’s 6 feet, with good speed and can play inside and out. While the Giants do have Jerrel Jernigan, he’s more of a slot guy only. They need to keep Cruz there. Givens would allow them do that.

WITH THE 127th PICK IN THE 2012 NFL DRAFT, THE NEW YORK GIANTS SELECT…

VICK BALLARD, RB, MISSISSIPPI STATE

I’ve been high on Ballard for awhile. He’s a good inside runner. Nothing special, but he’ll be good in short yardage and goal line situations. That’s what the Giants need. Ballard isn’t fancy, but that’s okay. As long as he gets those tough yards, he’ll be fine.

WITH THE 131RD PICK IN THE 2012 NFL DRAFT, THE NEW YORK GIANTS SELECT…

AARON HENRY, S, WISCONSIN

The Giants need safety depth. Aaron Henry is a versatile safety, with great cover skills. He will allow the Giants to play Antrel Rolle closer to the line more. He has some work to do, but he has a lot of natural cover ability, and that’s what the Giants need.

WITH THE 201ST PICK IN THE 2012 NFL DRAFT, THE NEW YORK GIANTS SELECT…

QUENTIN SAULSBERRY, G/C, MISSISSIPPI STATE

I really like Saulsberry. He can play guard or center. He provides a lot of effort, and gets the job done. A versatile, swing backup.

WITH THE 239TH PICK IN THE 2012 NFL DRAFT, THE NEW YORK GIANTS SELECT…

NAJEE GOODE, LB, WEST VIRGINIA

One of our draft crushes, Goode doesn’t profile as a starter, but has versatility and great special teams ability. Can back up multiple spots and not embarrass you.

I would be very happy with this. Perry reminds me somewhat of LeMarr Woodley.
