How Keith Rivers Became a Giant

Keith Rivers suffered through a few injury-laden seasons in Cincinnati, but there is no denying his elite talent. Why did Cincy let him go? We’ll let Dan Pompei of NFP explain:

*There was a story behind the story on the Keith Rivers trade to the Giants. The former first round pick had surgery on his wrist near the end of the lockout last summer. The Bengals thought he could have had it earlier in the offseason, and did not approve. The team subsequently put him on the non football injury list. Rivers wanted to be put on the physically unable to perform list, which would have enabled him to collect his salary. He filed a grievance against the team. There were hard feelings, and both sides thought a fresh start was in order.

“Good” news I guess then 🙂

So he basically got screwed over by the Bungles and they gave away a top linebacker and ex top pick for almost nothing. Great organization, no wonder they are losers. I don’t see much improvement in their methods, they will tease their fans but never be a viable super bowl contender.

Good for us, later for them, I think Rivers is going to have a really good year. He’s a very talented football player who played for a poor organization.

I always say so many player never become what they could have and reach their potential. So many because of the organization they were drafted by. So many players blossom under good coaching, like Wes Welker for instance.
