Eli Manning hit the mark recently when he shot back at Amani Toomer after the former Giants receiver admitted he thought Tony Romo, and not Eli, was the best quarterback in the NFC East, Paul Schwartz of the New York Post reports.
“I got some text messages from some buddies about the situation, I hadn’t heard about it, kind of researched it a little bit, saw some of the comments, I kind of laughed about it a little bit,’’ Manning told The Post Monday morning in a phone conversation during a break from promoting Gatorade’s “Beat The Heat’’ program.
“I saw Toomer not too long ago at the ESPY awards and I went up to him and I said ‘Hey, I think Willie Ponder and Ike Hilliard were better receivers than you were for the Giants.’ Just kind of laughed and joked about it. I don’t get upset about those things. Amani’s been a good pal of mine. I don’t think he was trying to be mean to me in any way or try to hurt my feelings. That’s just the way things are now, with so many different talk radio shows and so many different things talking about football year-round, there’s only so much you can say. You can listen to every single one and get upset every time they say anything bad about me or the Giants, if that got to me and got me upset or concerned we’d have some serious problems.’’
Toomer not long ago on SiriusXM NFL Radio said “If you look at it, statistically, [Romo] is probably the best quarterback in the NFC East.’’ Toomer, who won a Super Bowl with Manning, went on to say “If I wanted a guy that is going to throw less interceptions and be more productive, higher completion percentage I’m going with Tony Romo.’’ Toomer did acknowledge, “at crunch time he’s not as good as Eli.’’

Toomer is an asshole
Big Blue in 2013
Yup.
I’m coming to the realization over the years that Eli Manning is just plain smooth–a first class guy who is also smart as a whip.
Double yup.

Willie Ponder was a BEAST!!! haha
Anyone know when the best time to go to Camp is? I want to go when position battles are in full swing and have a feeling this weekend will just be walk through.
I would suggest the Monday following the first preseason game. Definitely a good time for position battles, before the first game will be pretty weak in terms of that.
Just a side note; if Eli Manning came out with a daily or weekly blog where he unleashes a vast array of nerdy quips, I’d read it.
You Know, I’m from and live in San Diego. Iv’e been a Giants fan since 1981. I am so glad we got Eli over Rivers. The folks here in S.D. hate Eli and I catch alot of crapp. It sure is nice to be a fan of a classy oranization with a classy head coach as well as a very classy QB. The Charger fans here bitch about the Raider fans being mean. I can tell you I have watched the Giants at Giants stadium,L.A. Rams, L.A. Raiders, Az. Cards. and Quailcom (Chargers). The meanest, crudest fans were in S.D. So good job Giants for taking Eli, good job Mr. Manning(Archie), and good job Eli, stay classy………………..ps, the best fans were at N.Y. Can’t wait to go back!
