And bad news becomes worse. Terrell Thomas has suffered an injury to the ACL. What that means is not exactly clear. He’s going to go for more tests.
“Terrell re-injured his ACL. At this point he will most likely undergo an arthroscopic procedure to determine the extent of the injury to the ACL. However, no decision has been made at this point. Terrell is going to consult with Dr. (Arthur) Ting, who performed an allograft reconstruction of the ACL in Septemeber.
We don’t know if it’s a tear. But it can’t be good. He has torn this ACL twice. It’s not in the best shape. If it’s another tear, it might be the end of his career. We’re going to keep our fingers crossed and hope for the best.
In the meantime, Prince Amukamara has to step up and have a great camp, because he very well could be the starter.
UPDATE: (7:43 EST): Thomas is believed to have, at least, a “partial tear”.
It is believed that Terrell Thomas has at the very least a partial tear of his ACL. Doctors will know more after exploratory surgery. # NYG

career over………
Giants losing a key player to injury and it isn’t even August yet? Yup, sounds about right…
Here we go again…
I think too many players push and think they are ready to play when they aren’t. I am glad Nicks is waiting and making sure he is ready.
It takes time to heal. It may seem ready but it’s not and more rehab is needed along with time.

Do you have one of every Saints playoff win outside of the Superdome??
I didn’t expect him to be ready at the start of the season, but this … Sorry for the guy, looks like he’s done in football.
With less “real” practice because of the new CBA, we can’t expect any rookie to have an impact early. Tryon, Coe or another of those vets will need to step up.
Don’t underestimate what Prince and Hosley can do. Hosley is a very aggressive player and was considered a possible first round pick. Prince also has a lot of talent and is extremely fast.
There is some good news to this. If they examine the reconstructed ligament and it is stable, then he could be fine. If it elongated to the point where it doesn’t give him much stability, it doesn’t matter that it’s only a partial tear. If it’s unstable, the treatment is exactly the same as a full tear. On the other hand if it’s just an MRI finding but on examination it’s stable, then it’s just like he didn’t injure his knee. He’ll be fine. It depends on the examination of his knee.
Even if it’s only a partial tear, it goes to showing that this knee is pretty screwed up now.
Coughlin didn’t sound optimistic. Wait & see.
