Wondering why Ramses Barden hasn’t been able to produce?

Thoughts?

    sounds about right

Wrong- Look at film, he is absolutely WRONG. Go back to my comprehensive receiver review and I explain his problem.

It’s about his technique. He uses a double fake move that takes too long and he does not have the quickness to pull it off. Either he is doing what the coaches are teaching him or that’s his go to move.

Whatever it is it doesn’t work. He should look at film of big
Unless Lombardi is looking at practice now and that’s what he sees, if he is talking about the past and what Barden has done on film Lombardi does not have a clue. He does not know what he is talking about. receivers, they use one fake and a swim move to use their longer arms and power to literally move the DB out of the way. He tries a much more of a finesse move. he must use his size, did anybody teach that to him? He should be looking at film of Plax. He had it down and could get separation against any DB.

That got messed up some how…..

I’m still angry at this guy Lombardi.

Barden cannot get off the LOS because of poor technique plain and simple.

    • ArthuroMolenda says:

Well you guys agree on the quickness issue so don’t get so worked up :)

      Plus, it’s a tweet, less than 140 characters ;)

There’s an old saying about opinions, everybody has one along with a butt hole.

I don’t mind people’s opinions but when they make statements like that without follow up explanations and are just wrong, it bugs me. I studied this guy’s film for hours, it was a short film but I watched everything and still missed something that was pointed out here about his jumping to catch the ball.

To make a statement like that, who is this guy and why was he quoted? I question his football knowledge. Too many experts on the internet that don’t know squat about football.

Say it ain’t so, Ramses; say it ain’t so.

  5. Jason C. says:

Just Wiki’ed Mike Lombardi and thought it was kinda funny that he joined the 49ers as a scout right after they won their first two Super Bowls in the early 80′s and then left to join the Cleveland Browns in a higher position right before the 9ers won their second 2 at the end of the decade. So Big Daddy might be right, maybe he doesn’t know what he’s talking about haha.

    • Big Daddy says:

Exactly look at the success of the Browns = FAIL!!!

Again like I said people making big money doing a job because of politics when in fact they are incompetent. I will say by his statements about Barden he is incompetent as a scout.

  6. Big Daddy says:

I read abut Lombardi, he did not work long for any team. In other words he was dumped quickly.

He does not work for any NFL team now and works for the NFL network. I wonder why? Same for another terrible evaluator of talent Charlie Casserly…..he was a terrible GM and ruined the career of David Carr IMO.

    • Mario Williams says:

Mario Williams says your wrong. He chose me over the likes of Reggie bush and Vince Young. The whole world bashed him for this move and looks like he was correct. David Carr killed himself. The O-line made Carr a scared pussaycat and that ruined his career because he would never let a play develop and was scared of the rush

      • Big Daddy says:

Hey Mario you just agreed with me, he never put together an offensive line to protect Carr long enough to throw a pass. Carr was sacked more than any other QB in history, or at least close. I think it was 79 times in his first year.

So yes it was Charlie and no Mario you are not that good. That’s why they moved you to linebacker and never re-signed you. Good luck inowhere-landnd New York, you wish it was the Giants but you’re not good enough to beat out Osi for the 4th spot in the rotation.

  7. ArthuroMolenda says:

I don’t understand where you disagree … Lombardi says Barden is slow out of his stance and you say his move takes too long …

    • Big Daddy says:

It’s the reason why he’s slow that we disagree on.

    • Jason C. says:

Big Daddy is saying that Barden uses a bad technique whereas Lombardi pretty much is just saying that he’s slow and lazy. The results are the same, but the cause is different. I’m with Big Daddy on this one here, I don’t think Barden is slow or lazy at all, I do think he isn’t as confident in his skills (being a big, towering man) as he should be.

  8. Big Daddy says:

I will add about Barden, he is actually fairly quick out of his stance but wastes time with his ineffective move. That move like I have said is a double move. He is not quick enough as a man 6’6″ to do it. It would work with a WR 6′ or less.

A man that size should be using his long arm in a swim move to separate himself from the DB.

    For instance:

1-Juke right with a quick false step. Swim move with right arm across body as he moves left. The DB would than have to over compensate to take the inside away(Barden’s left side).

2-Barden is faking the inside move(his left as I said) with his second step to make the DB completely over compensate as not to lose coverage because he is being separated by the swim move. The Swim move eliminates any contact which is allowed within the first 5 yards. Being a bigger man at 6’6″ that arm is like a tree branch!!!

3-Barden accelerates to his right with his third step, he should be wide open. Big Gain on right sideline. DB is left inside unable to catch up to the long legged Barden fast enough to stop the gain or get to the ball to break up the play.

This should work on press coverage which is what has been successful against Barden and DBs will use until it doesn’t work anymore.

Watch film of Plax and you will see how a receiver that tall should approach the position. His technique was excellent. DBs could NOT use press coverage and if they slept for a split second on the snap Plax was by them with his long strides and wide open.

I question whether the coaches are teaching him the correct things or Barden is not coachable. Maybe he does what he wants against what the coaches are trying to teach him.

    • ArthuroMolenda says:

I just went over the week 9 game where he took a fair share of snaps. I think he’s is slow getting off the line.

I’m didn’t go to scout school so I’m just comparing to Cruz and Manningham in the same game. Maybe it’s not fair to ask him to be as quick as those two though.

  9. jeremy P. says:

Immediately after signing his contract Ramses needed to satiate himself in Plaxico game film. There’s no excuse for him to have been this nonexistent. What am I missing?

Kevin Boss was slow and even he found a role; Ramses should at least be an exceptional run blocker. He needs to be on the field; while teams double cover Nicks and Cruz I find it hard to believe Barden doesn’t know how to beat single coverage. It just doesn’t add up. I repeat. What am I missing?
