I really do not want to watch this game. I don’t like the Jets, I don’t like the way they play and I do not want to see Tim Tebow. I have a job to do so I will force myself. I will be paying attention to the Giants specifically and try to ignore anything in Green. There’s just nothing that interests me with the Jets. They are a bad team and have little talent. Someday I’ll figure out why Tebow was drafted with a first round pick (no wonder the GM was fired) and the Jets traded for him. The Jets needed offensive lineman and ‘Desperately’ needed receivers, so they go get a wildcat quarterback……I really think I can do a better job than Mike Tannenbaum. They also need a quarterback coach. I like Revis but he’s wasted on that team, the Jets are trash and their front office is clueless.
I will do a report on the Giants players tomorrow and a follow up to that when I can review the film closely. There are so many battles for roster spots it’s very interesting. Some of the things I will be watching for is the play of the offensive line. Specifically Snee and Diehl, they did not have a good game against the Jags and I hope they have a better showing. Also the battle for the middle linebacker position, Blackburn looked bad, Herzlich looked a lot better, this will be a big test for Herzlich the Jets do a lot of trick stuff on offense.
We’ll all be watching the receivers and who steps up for that #3 spot. Also Prince, everybody knows he will be targeted, if I were the OC I would go right after him. Now that some of the defensive tackles are out we need to see what we have, Hendricks should get a lot of playing time. Austin will probably not play so we might also see some of the new defensive tackles just signed. Another player to watch is Tracy, he has to play better against the run, he gave up a TD. He can rush the passer but he has to be more aware of his gap responsibility.
Another player is Scott, I hope he gets some time running. We know what Ware, Bradshaw and Brown can do, I want to see more of Wilson, Scott and Martinek running the ball. I also want to see more of Martinek blocking, we know Hynoski can do it. The backup TEs need more time and the WRs have a backload. Cruz doesn’t need but a few snaps and get him out, I want to see Randle, Stanback, Talley, Douglas and DePalma with either Eli or Carr. I do not care to see Barden and Jernigan at all, they cannot play, PERIOD. I have a feeling they are going to stash Douglas on IR like they did with Cruz.
These are the players I want to see more of to judge if they are going to make the roster and contribute. If not this season maybe next, I know they will stash some of these players on IR with minor injuries. I think Douglas is destined to go on IR with his hamstring if he can’t play, you cannot risk him on waivers even injured. I will say that it’s frustrating seeing the same players perform poorly and still get chances, namely Brown, Barden and Jernigan. Time to move in another direction, cut Barden he will tease like Moss did and put Jernigan on IR for some reason, maybe a hangnail.
Offensive line: As I said Snee and Diehl, they have to improve, Mosley at ROT not another position he really should be the starter there, he has played well. Brewer is very inconsistent and I want to see more of him at LOT. Petrus had a bad game and he needs snaps. Cordle might be hurt, I think White is the other center in camp. McCants needs more snaps.
WR: I want to see a little Hixon to see if he is 100%, Douglas, Talley, Collins, DePalma and Stanback all have talent. They need playing time with Carr at least, enough of Barden and Jernigan. I was impressed with Collins, he was wide open every time he was out there as was Talley.
RB: Scott needs some snaps, Wilson can play and blocked well but they both need more time. I do not like Brown, Ware looked much better. Martinek needs some time at RB not just FB.
TE: Robinson needs a lot more work so does Bear, we know what the Black Unicorn can do. There are a bunch of other TEs that the Giants have to sort through.
DLine: Tracy and another DE that looked good was Marshall, Broha also played well. At DT Hendricks should get a lot of time and the new guys need to get in there and show something.
LB: I feel Herzlich won the job but needs more snaps. Jones needs more snaps at the MIKE to see if he’s a viable backup, he really can’t play OLB. Rivers needs more time to get this defense down and start making plays. Paysinger looks like a SAM and not a WILL, he’s too slow for the WILL. I don’t know if Williams is playing tonight. Boley is probably still out and that’s why Rivers is so important, Boley has an injury history. Williams is needed out there too, is Muasau playing? The linebacker depth especially at the WILL is thin.
Secondary: I would keep Prince in there all game or at least 3 quarters, he needs the time on the field. I want to see a lot of Hosley too, in both the Nickel and Webster’s spot, also Hill at both safety positions. Coe is injured and I don’t know if he will play. There is a logjam at safety and that has to be sorted out. I was not impressed with the play of the backups at CB and Safety someone has to step up and win a roster spot.
So that’s basically it for tonight’s game, if I missed anything please let me know. I will review this game more than once as I study it. I did study the Jags game, I must have watched it too many times to count, over and over again, each play. I was very disappointed with Chase, Snee and Diehl and hope their performance improves. I cannot say it enough times Barden is a waste of a Jersey like Moss was and Jernigan has some talent but is not NFL ready. Let the new guys get in there, they are hungry to play and very talented.

Big Daddy

I have to disagree with this article. The Jets while lacking majorily on offense, still have a pretty solid defense, especially if Coples can continue to get after the QB. It will be a decent test for the giants offense. There is plenty to watch for the giants on both sides of the ball, especially against their tennant rivals in green. It will be a much anticipated national game and the one I suspect not only locals, but the national media will pay the most attention too. Sanchez regardless to what he claims, has a big chip on his shoulder and will look to continue to solidify himself as a starter and a so-called future top 10 Qb. Dont think the Jets will take this game lightly! It should be fun to watch.
Luv ya, Big Daddy. Agree with all that you say. The Jets are plain horsesnot!!! And Coples is not even beating the Jets suspect OL (Ducasse) off the snap. Do I hear the word “BUST”???? They’re a good defense, but have a below avg. DL.
Keep doin’ ya thing, Big Boy.
Doc
I do not agree that Jernigan should not play. He is talented and could be an antwan randel el type player. I also believe that the Jets do have talent on their team (mostly defense)but I agree that they did not address their need with the O.
Jernigan should go home and look in the mirror. Ask yourself have you done everything possible since you where drafted to be the best football player you can be. NO FREAKIN’ WAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I know a bit about training, I was training for the ring, short amateur and than pro. Lucky for me things didn’t work out and I got injured or I might not have all my marbles right now. Best thing I never did.
He is the same player that he was in college. He did not get stronger with lean muscle mass, he did not learn the intricacies of taking care of his body and getting the most out of it. He certainly did not spend any time learning to catch balls with the machine or going back to his college and working with their punter on catching punts.
There is probably a thousand things he could have done to make himself a better player, did he do anything? It doesn’t look like it. So he’s getting a pay check and doing exactly what?
I wish I was born with the physical abilities of a guy like Barden or Jernigan. I would be working my butt off to become the best player I could be. Getting stronger, making my body into the best it can be for the position I play, working on techniques and learning the playbook. I just don’t see the dedication from these players necessary to be even good solid professionals. I see wasted draft picks and wasted talent.
The Jets suck, I watched them since Joe Namath was their QB. Tannenbaum is incompetent, to them it’s not a traditional thing it’s about making money and being in the media not winning games.
I have to also add, look at Collins physicality and overall body, he looks like he lives in the gym, Jernigan looks soft and plays soft.
You can tell who has it who does not in terms of their play. Is the player a physical player or do they shy away from physical play. Barden at 6’6″ is not a physical player yet he’s much bigger than anybody he has to face in the secondary even most linebackers, he should own them.
It’s halftime, Hosley is my guy.
Barden stinks period.
Snee and Diehl are not playing well, they are not blocking for the run well. In fact the whole line is not getting any push.
Bradshaw is hurt, I hope it’s not serious.
Hosely looks sharp. Only Saw a bit of the game so I wasn’t able to monitor Princes’ play. Was he better tonight? I saw Wilson rip off a few good runs. I predict he will be taking some starting snaps by years end. Nice big catch from Carr to Randell. He doesn’t get open as much as I’d like to see but he def has potential Nd with hixon back and looking strong he could fill the 4th wideout role.
O-Line looks bad. Not crazy about the LB play either. Still pushing for your boy Teo round 1 next year. DEs are still struggling with that interior run stop and middle
Push. Hopefully that gets sorted out so the DEs can wreck havoc off the edges.
Complete review is coming later. I have to watch the game another 20 times..ha ha. They give you the ability to move the game forward and back 10 seconds so I can bypass the BS and get to the play. I watch each play over and over again. Each time I watch the play I study a different play or I watch the same player a few times to make sure I am seeing what I am seeing. When I do that it really opens my eyes about each player and their overall play. The Giants have some real issues on the offensive line.
I figure by tonight I will have it posted. I want to make sure I am correct in my assessment of each player. I don’t want to say this guy or that guy sucks until I make sure. Conversely I don’t want to build anybody up that did not perform well because I like their play or want them to do good. That’s something fans do too often. It cannot be either biased or prejudiced for any reason. That is difficult to do for anybody and takes a certain amount of discipline.
