First half Blues

-Kick off-Wilson gets ball in endzone. I think at the end of the run he gave a juke, if he would have stayed with the cut and ran to his left it might have gained more yards. He has to learn something about the NFL game as opposed to college, jukes rarely work, you have to know when to do it. He will, I see why he did but he has to learn to trust the blockers to control their man.

-Nice call, nice catch, Gilbride is trying to open up run game with the short pass.

-Eli put ball where he had to, behind Nicks, big gain. Looking gooooood!!!!

-Bradshaw’s fault, he had to hit the line faster. There was a hole he completely missed it and was tackled from behind. He moved left instead of just following his blockers. I do not know what is wrong with this guy, get him some glasses.

-Just plain lack of focus, Wilson did not look ball into hands. He should have got the ball, put his head down and drove, he might have scored who knows. This kid has such great talent he has to get his head out of his butt.

-Nice call, Eli just put the ball in there wrong. If he threw it on the other side of the receiver it’s a TD but that’s hindsight. I could not tell from my angle if there was defensive holding.

-Field Goal, it should have been a TD.

-Bucs get the break and recover fumble on the kick off. Could have been a big play for Giants, oh well.

-Nice lateral movement by defense, Boley makes tackle.

-Webster got faked out and allowed the receiver to get YAC.

-Poor coverage by Webster, he’s looking slow, late help by Rolle. He had time to read that and get there.

-Martin tried to run with ball before he had it, a rookie mistake just like Wilson and so many veterans too.

-Nice submarine tackle on Martin by Joseph.

-The defense read the screen play well. Osi over ran the play trying to get the sack as he always does. Tuck missed the tackle. It still was only a short gain.

-Bucs kick FG-good.

-Bennett runs well for a gain on kickoff. Good field position. Kind of a late hit, Bennett was out and on the ground when a Buc came and hit him.

-Bradshaw no gain, no hole.

-Better execution on pass to Cruz down middle, nice play. But embarrassing inability for DD to block end, he just blew by him like he wasn’t there.

-Wilson nice run no hole still picked up 4 yards.

-Incomplete pass to Nicks on left it looked like the CB was holding him, pass 5 yards, no flag. DE blew by DD again.

-Big gain down the middle to Cruz. Nice block by Nicks to help spring him. Eli was planted though.

-Run by Bradshaw. I hate to nitpick but that’s my job….the hole was wide open, he ran into a defender trying to run away from two others, he should have ran right behind Bennett who was driving his man to the right, a better back would have cut hard left and followed Bennett. The whole team was moving right he could have cut back behind Bennett and been gone.

-Short run by Bradshaw, in my opinion he hit the hole too slow he had Snee in front of him. Bradshaw looks slow, no acceleration.

-Nice pass down middle to Hixon. Looks like cheap shot by defender. I thought the ball should have been on the one yard line not half the distance to the goal.????

-Oh man Eli had Bradshaw wide open but threw to Beatty too hard. That should have been a TD, Eli had time he rushed the throw. It looked like Hynoski got away with a hold, no flag.

-To me even when I saw the game it was just a bad call. A run down the middle, Eli should have called a time out it was the wrong call for the defensive formation. Bradshaw made something out of nothing by getting down and driving.

-Flag-Beatty moved.

-Drop in endzone by Bennett, that was a TD. Perfect throw by Eli.

-FG made that should have been a TD. But I still say that was just a plain poor call by Gilbride on second down. They keep forgetting the Giants are no longer a power running team.

-Herzlich fights off good block to make tackle on kick off.

-Nice gain on left side by Bucs. Coverage is late by KP.

-End around, nice run, Giants a little late to peruse.

-Nice gain down middle the Giants are in soft zones I think it was Blackburn’s zone and he was late to get there, he’s just slow.

-Lucky for Giants the receiver was overthrown, he was WIDE open again Webster could not cover. He looks like he lost a step. I still wonder if he’s not nursing a leg injury of some kind. So far the Giants are not getting ANY pass rush. Rolle is very late on help coverage.

-Finally someone gets a sack, it’s Blackburn.

-Tuck saves a big run with a hand tackle.

-Punt lucky the officials saw it right there was no flag for roughing the kicker. I have seen that go the other way, it was the correct no call.

-Eli throws an interception. He just did not see the defender. It could be because he knew he was going to get planted as Locklear now at ROT let the DE go right by him. He did have Hynoski open in the flat on the left side, no time Eli just locked on and let it go. No other choice or get sacked. He should have ate the ball and went down.

-Good coverage by Webster on offensive right sideline and bad throw by Freeman.

-Good stout run stop, nobody went for end around fake.

-TD, push off by receiver no flag, Coe had fair position it was an obvious push off by WR to get separation. At least it looked that way to me, Coe had his eyes on the ball and just got pushed away with the receivers right elbow.

-kickoff-Giants on their 20

-Boothe missed block, Bradshaw went nowhere.

-Great catch by Cruz on right sideline.

-Short pass to Nicks incomplete down middle.

-Draw to Hynoski for 3 yards.

-Short pass right side to Nicks short of first down.

-Punt-Giants do not keep their spacing on punts sometimes.

-Nice run stop by JPP.

-Sack by JPP, Freeman had nowhere to throw as I had said keep him in the pocket and he will get lost sometimes. He gets happy feet.

-Short pass on left nice tackle by Boley.

-Punt

-Nice throw down middle to Cruz.

-Nice play to Hynoski who got hit low and flipped, incomplete.

-Brown on a run, no hole, nothing.

-INT by Eli. Just a poor throw, I guess he’s feeling some heat by the rush and not focusing.

-Nice run to right by Martin for 5 yards. Nice holding by Bucs especially on Blackburn, no flag.

-TD, nice run. Was it me or did it look like half the Giants defense was held? Since when was tackling allowed by the offense when they have the ball?

-Kickoff Giants on 20.

-Nice run by Brown, big hole, the Giants line blew them out.

-Really nice run by Brown who went under his blockers and squirted out.

-Obvious pass interference or it looked that way Cruz was really livid.

-Nice power run by Brown.

-Bennett down the middle.

-Short pass to Cruz. Much better blocking with Locklear at the ROT now.

-Another short pass to Cruz the Giants are taking what the Bucs defense are giving them.

-Another short pass to Cruz.

-Delayed handoff to Brown, sloppy but it worked well for good yardage.

-TD-wide open Cruz down the middle left and run into endzone for a Salsa dance. They could do this all day if they would focus better and execute the plays.

-kickoff-Good coverage.

-Nice tackle by JPP, it looked like more holding to me, no flags.

-You keep Freeman in the pocket he gets happy feet and does not know what to do. Still not getting enough pressure on him though. Incomplete pass.

-Almost a sack he got rid of it to no one, was that grounding?

-Punt-Great runback, Randle is dangerous please Mr. Coughlin get this kid in the passing game OK. I did not see any overt blocking in the back but they called it.

-Eli to Nicks down the middle. The offensive line is blocking and Eli looks good.

-Good catch by Cruz but he’s trying too hard to make a play.

-Penalty on Beatty, was that on the defense? I do not know all the rules but Beatty flinched because of the defender, I thought that was encroachment.

-Eli is getting just enough time to get the ball off but the line is doing so much better. Complete to Cruz.

-Incomplete to Barden, did he miss-time his jump or was it just thrown too high?

-Pick 6, does anybody know how to tackle on the Giants offense? I just think everybody was in shock, they knew they were going to score. The Giants were moving the ball easily, the defense was getting tired.

-Kickoff-bad descion to run it out, this is a very good coverage team.

-Manning kneels first half over.

What we saw was a team (The Giants) slowly dominating the other team but making too many mistakes. Like I have said, the Bucs will make you pay for mistakes and they did. I also said Coughlin and the Giants never give up and never give in. It’s very rare under Coughlin and not these guys, they believe in themselves after winning a few super bowls. Again Diehl was like a sieve and did not block anybody. Once he went out and the line had a few snaps together they were much better with Beatty and Locklear at the tackles. If they can just all stay healthy this line will get better and better. Blackburn played better too but is still slow. Webster looks like he lost a step or is hurt, it’s possible at the end of the season we’ll find out he was nursing an injury.

Brown ran better than Bradshaw, that’s just a fact. Bradshaw just does not have good discipline when following his blockers. Like I said last week, many times if you just follow your blockers the hole opens up. Brown did that and a few times it did, like when he actually went underneath his blockers and squirted out the other side. Even if Bradshaw is healthy I would bench him. After that punt return and it is obvious Barden cannot get separation, Randle must play. He is dangerous and the defense must respect his potential. Barden is a possession receiver that cannot get open.

The real story here is the horrible officiating. Not against the Giants, it’s the non-calls. The holding on the Bucs offensive line and even worse the pass interference and holding from the secondary. I am wondering if these guys know the NFL rules. They miss too much and it’s obvious. If the Giants had let it get to them they would have lost this game. But they didn’t as we will see in the second half.

Eli knelt for the last play of the 1st half. Why didn’t the Bucs play hard to the end of the half? Because they were winning and hadn’t been humiliated yet.

  2. CMH516 says:

Yep. And were they “playing to the whistle” when they tried to let Brown score?

I’m glad you brought all this stuff to light, about how Bradshaw has been running. I watched NFL replay last night and started to really notice this. Slo mo playing definitely helps too! There was another play, maybe it was in the 2nd half, where Wilson could have been GONE if both Pascoe and Hynoski didnt breeze by a Bucs CB. I hate to say it as it is due to injury, but I’m more confident now with Locklear/Beatty and Brown getting a shot to start Thursday. Also, wanted to point out that you wrote Cruz had a TD in the 1st half when it was really Nicks… otherwise another awesome recap! Looking forward to the 2nd half when all the fun begins!!

Whoops on that one. 88 & 80 and it was like 3AM…LOL. Still sick but fever went down. I have to hurry with this one, I can’t believe there is another game tomorrow night.

Yeah it’s the little things you don’t notice because of the speed of the game. Once you start looking at a play over and over again and your eye focuses and your brain focuses you see things you could not have before. Although you have to make sure your mind does not play tricks on you. It takes a lot of mental energy to focus that much.

I’m disappointed with Bradshaw, he does not hit the hole with the acceleration he once had. I think he’s done, his injuries zapped his quickness.

Chase is playing better but he’s still slow as Sh*t.

Play 41 was actually the one play that irked me the most, after hearing about all the “well they might miss some calls but nothing game changing” from analysts, that was a game changing non-call, and the fact that the ref was LITERALLY on top of the play and missed that is unforgivable.
