Giants vs Eagles – Matchups to Watch

The New York Football Giants square off tomorrow night in a divisional showdown against the Philadelphia Eagles. Here are the matchups to watch:

DE’s Jason Pierre-Paul & Osi Umenyiora vs LT Demetress Bell

With Jason Peters lost for the season and backup King Dunlap out, Eagles head coach Andy Reid will turn to late free agent signee Demetress Bell. Bell, who allowed allowing seven QB pressures last week against the Cardinals, will face off against two elite pass rushers. While Bell will likely have help sometimes against Pierre-Paul and Umenyiora, he won’t all the time because of the other holds the Eagles have amongst the offensive line. Look for Pierre-Paul and Umenyiora to have a big day against Bell.

CB Prince Amukamara vs WR’s DeSean Jackson and Jeremy Maclin

It’s time for the Giants former first round pick to step up. His high-ankle sprain, which is nearly fully recovered, will be tested early and often tomorrow night. Look for Eagles QB Michael Vick to send it deep against a banged up Giants secondary. S Antrel Rolle is questionable for tomorrow’s matchup. If he is out, look for the Eagles to test the Giants secondary a bunch more.

DT Rocky Bernard & Linval Joseph vs C Dallas Reynolds

With Eagles C Jason Kelce gone and lost for the season, former practice squad backup Dallas Reynolds will have to make all the calls and play against a very underrated interior line. It will be interesting to see how Reynolds holds up.

The Prediction

Giants 31 v Eagles 23

Even without WR Hakeem Nicks, the high-powered Giants offense will be to much to handle. Look for the Giants defensive line to have a big game, too. It will also be interesting to see if Eagles QB Michael Vick can hold up all game. If the Giants can get to him like the Cardinals did, don’t expect to see Vick last.
