Second half Giants-Browns

-Kickoff-Browns start at their 27.

-Short pass right side for 8.

-Tuck fights off block, no gain on run to right.

-Pass short right.

-Bootleg for 2, first down.

-Run left for 12 yards.

-Kuhn makes play on double reverse for 1 yard.

-Incomplete on left side.

-Short pass left side.

-Punt-Giants start on their 5.

-Bradshaw down the middle 2 yards.

-Hixon left side for 7.

-Bradshaw nice run for first down.

-Short left pass to Randle.

-Bradshaw big run on left side for 37 yards. Follows his blocking perfectly.

-Short pass to Bennett down the middle.

-Bradshaw left tackle for 7.

-Bradshaw nothing, he steps on Baas’s leg.

-TD to Cruz right side endzone, wide open. Ex pt. good.

-Kickoff-Herzlich saves a TD, Giants sleeping again. 74 yard return.

-Incomplete right side.

-Wide open for short yardage to the left side

-Webster stopped a longer run on pass to right side.

-FG good.

-Kickoff-Wilson runs into Tryon, it could have been a long gain.

-Eli to Bradshaw in the flats on the right side, nice hard running.

-Eli throws behind Hixon down the middle. Incomplete.

-Eli over throws Hixon deep left side. Incomplete.

-Short pass to Jernigan.

-Punt- penalty on Cleveland.

-Eli short pass to right side for Bear.

-Eli incomplete to Cruz.

-Rookies do not get the calls, DB was holding Randle on left side of field, no flag, incomplete.

-Punt-Browns on their 20.

-Short pass right for 4.

-Did Chase drop an INT?

End of third Quarter.

-It looked like Osi knocked the ball out of Weeden’s hand before it was moving forward, therefore a fumble or is it? So many rules on that, it looked like JPP picked it up and went out of bounds. Maybe it should have been Giants ball? Remember I am not watching the broadcast game, I am only commenting on what I see on this version which is the coach’s version. So some things are hard to tell.

-Punt-Giants on their 21.

-Bradshaw left tackle, no gain.

-Eli throws an INT. Browns on Giants 27. It should have been pass interference, this is how many missed calls? This is not one of the better officiating crews. They look a little better than the replacements. It was really obvious.

-Run left tackle for -3 yards. Will Hill did what a middle linebacker is supposed to do and shoot the gap for a tackle in the backfield.

-False start on Browns.

-Boley makes nice tackle on short pass down the middle.

-Penalty Browns false start.

-10 yard pass to Richardson on the left side. He’s hard to tackle.

-Short pass down the middle.

-JPP batted pass away. Incomplete.

-Run up the middle to the 5. The FB owns Blackburn all drive.

-This was a strange play you see once in a while. The pass was batted back to passer and he throws a TD. That’s a penalty. He should have run with it. How could any official rule it a TD, duh????? They did. This crew is a lower rated one of that I am sure.

-The Giants are saying thank you for the ball in the endzone. Weeden thought Blackburn was on his team.

-Bradshaw up the middle for 2 yards.

-BIG run by Bradshaw, off left tackle weaves and goes for 28 yards. Beatty blocked very well and what looked like with Boothe took out the whole left side of the defense.

-Bradshaw should have followed his blockers, he cut back for only 3 yards. After such a good run the Giants blew them out again but for some reason he cut back.

-Short pass to Bradshaw for a few.

-Cruz down the middle for a first down.

-Wilson shows his potential and explodes for a TD run. EX pt. good.

-Kickoff-Cribbs to the 25. Cribbs is a dangerous runner but is prone to mental mistakes.

-Pass incomplete to the right side. The WR was open.

-This time he hits the receiver on same play for 11 yards.

-Pass down the middle for 9.

- Again for some reason Blackburn is covering a WR, of course it was a complete pass for 15 yards.

-Wide open receiver drops ball. Incomplete.

-Receiver wide open, complete for 21 yards.

-Webster loses coverage, TD. Ex pt. good.

-Kickoff-Onside kick, Hill recovers. Basically the game is over the Giants just have to run out the clock.

-Bradshaw for 8 yards off right side.

-Bradshaw right side for no gain.

-Bradshaw left side for 3.

-Good hard running by Bradshaw, he’s smart he goes down instead of running out of bounds to stop clock.

-Run up the middle, for 11, hard running by Bradshaw.

-Bradshaw for 2.

-Bradshaw for 12.

-Eli takes a knee.

Game over.

The second half was about the same as the first. The Giants focused a little better. But how did they play? Honestly they played like an 8-8 team not an 11-5 team. They still make too many mental mistakes especially on special teams coverage. The defense is not playing well, this is the Browns and they put up too many points because of those mistakes in coverage.

The Browns also made too many mistakes, take those away and did they really get out played that much? No not at all. Forget the final score, I am looking at the individual and team play and I see too many issues that have to be addressed and fixed. Hopefully some of those will be worked out as the season goes on, people will get healthy, younger players will step up and the Giants can sneak into the playoffs and make a run. As long as they have Eli Manning and someone to throw to it’s possible.

The offense line is showing signs of getting it together and blocking better as a group. They will be facing a determined and talented defense next game. We’ll see if they have taken a step up or back against them.

I’m glad the Giants won, it was important they did. You must beat the teams you should beat. How will they fare against the Niners? This is the test of tests, hopefully the Giants will rise to the occasion and make it a close game. They must fight to the last whistle and win, that will help with their confidence and identity.

I must say this group of referees is not much better than the replacements were, they missed so many obvious pass interference calls.

    Ya…good point about the refs.
    Tons of Pass-Int calls missed.
This game coulda been a total wash.

    Aside from the early fumble.
Which was kinda of a freak accident.

    We blew this team out.
    Like I said…Philly didnt and B-More didnt.
Plus…we had tons of guys not playing.
    So I am optimistic.

The reason the Giants were able to come back and then in turn lay a beating on the Browns is because of their new mentality, keep the foot on the gas/finish. The problem is, this is the same mentality that led to that ill conceived sideline pass that resulted in OPI and a missed 50+ yard field goal. Gotta take the good with the bad I guess.
