Saints vs Giants – Matchups to Watch

The New York Football Giants will return home to face the New Orleans Saints in what appears to be a must win game. Here are the matchups to watch:

DE Jason Pierre-Paul vs LT Jermon Bushrod

If the Giants want any chance at stopping Saints QB Drew Brees, they’ll need to get serious pressure on him. What’s a way to stop an elite QB? Pressure. Look at Packers QB Aaron Rodgers just two weeks ago, he was smothered and had no time to throw. The Giants will need to do this if they want to stop Brees from shredding the Giants secondary.

LB’s Jacquian Williams and Keith Rivers vs TE Jimmy Graham

Giants LB Jacquian Williams will be playing for the first time since week 6 when he had a PCL injury. Williams will help cover explosive Saints TE Jimmy Graham and also allow DE Mathias Kiwanuka to shift back to the defensive line more, which in turn, should help the pass rush. Williams and Rivers need to blanket Graham and take away one of Brees’ top options.

Saints DC Steve Spagnuolo vs The Giants Offense

Spagnuolo, who was the Giants defensive coordinator during its 2007 Super Bowl run, knows the Giants offense very well. His defense faced QB Eli Manning in practice every day. He knows the schemes a bit. He hasn’t been a coach for the Giants in nearly four years, but you can sure as hell bet he spent some time talking to other Saints coaches about some of his former players he once coached. Eli Manning and the offense will look to hand Spags’ improving Saints defense a knockout blow.

Gabbers, who do you think will win the game tomorrow and why?

  2. Dave Bass says:

Whycant this team EVER capitalize on a turnover or big kick off return. They get a game changing play and 9 times outta 10, they run, or penalty, or bad pass play and never capitalize. Pathetic
