Super Bowl Prediction: Who Wins?

Although the Giants won’t be participating in this year’s super bowl, we here at the Gab would still like to get your predictions on the big matchup. So Gabbers, who are you picking to win and why?

Who do you have winning the big one?

My Prediction: 49ers 24 v Ravens 23  – The game will come down to the leg of 49ers K David Akers.

Ughhh….this is hard for me…cant stand both teams…I think Baltimore wins solely based on the high emotions right now w/Ray Lewis….but….again… I’m not a fan of either team…I try to weigh the pros and cons for each team and the cons outweigh the cons. Actually, I hope I win…in my office pool that is. Next year Giants…next year! GO GIANTS!

still no responses yet huh? well like I said previously…not a fan of either team…and really don’t care who wins…you go back and forth trying to decide on the lesser of two evils if you will. So I think it’s safe to say…like me…most Giants fans don’t really care about this superbowl. For me, when the playoffs started, I was hoping for a Denver/Seattle superbowl…but oh well…then I was looking at Atlanta..but they flopped..so after that…(sound of crickets)…….nothing to look forward to…so this years superbowl party we are invited to…We will probably watch the Blu-Ray dvd of last years Super Bowl…lol!

Baltimore 30 San Francisco 27 is my guess and in overtime. I think the deep vertical passing game of the Ravens will be tough for the 49ers to handle, I look for Torrey Smith to have a great game against the 49ers secondary and the Baltimore running backs to pile up yardage on the ground as well, thereby opening up the play-action passing game. What I like about Flacko and the Ravens is when they go play-action they go deep for the jugular.

On the defensive side I believe the Ravens with their experience, a very sound linebacking crew, and an underrated cornerback tandem and defensive backfield will seek to ‘contain’ Colin Kapernick, keep him in the pocket challenging him to beat them with his passing skills. With the extra time to prepare they should have a wrinkle or two in the defensive game plan to attempt to confuse Kapernick and eliminate his big-play options forcing the 49ers to methodically move down the field and demonstrate they can execute long drives without making critical mistakes or turnovers.

I look for the 49ers to move the ball consistently during the first half between the 20’s but come up short and settle for field goals with the Ravens jumping out to a ‘big-play’ induced lead over the first three quarters. Then I do expect a ‘flurry’ of plays as part of a 49er 4th quarter comeback effort that will tie the game up and send it to overtime, where the 49ers will kick a field goal and the Ravens will come back and score a touchdown to win in overtime.

This could become a ‘body-bag’ game as both teams will leave everything on the field. Don’t be surprised if Alex Smith isn’t needed at some point in this game to replace a ‘dinged’ up Kapernick, watch out for the assasin, Bernard Pollard either he will get someone or collectively the 49ers will get him.

I would love to see Alex Smith come in and save the day!! I don’t really care who wins either but I would love to see Alex get his moment…. then bounce for another team in the off-season!

I really don’t care to see Ray Lewis crying and snotting and thanking God for allowing him to win another SuperBowl either!!

    DP,

Your predictions on this game is solid…and could be exciting to watch…because so far this has been a pretty exciting and action packed playoffs. So in that respect it should be a good game..
