Giants Sign TE Brandon Myers to 1-Year Deal

The Giants moved quickly to replace Martellus Bennett by signing Tight End Brandon Myers, formerly of the Oakland Raiders. Myers started all 16 games for the Raiders last season and was with the team for four seasons. He had a breakout season last year, putting up very good numbers at the TE position – 79 catches for 806 yards, including 4 touchdowns. Myers, a 6’3″ 256-pound 27-year old out of Iowa, turned into a favorite target for Raiders quarterback Carson Palmer last season, which enabled him to set career highs in catches, yards and touchdowns. Keep in mind that Martellus Bennet only caught 55 passes for 626 yards (with 6 touchdowns) from Eli Manning last season, so this could be an upgrade at the TE position, and a bargain signing. Apparently, former Giants TE Kevin Boss convinced Myers to strongly consider New York. “He’s been talking to me about New York,” Myers said. “He told me what a great organization this is from top to bottom. He said it’s a great place to be and told me if I have an opportunity to come here I should definitely think about it.”
