Giants And LB Aaron Curry Agree to Terms

Linebacker Aaron Curry is the newest member of the Giants, Dave Hutchinson of the Newark Star-Ledger reports.

“Excited to be a Giant,” he tweeted about the move.

Curry, selected No. 4 overall in 2009 NFL Draft by the Seahawks, began his visit with the Giants on Thursday night and came back this morning for a workout. It apparently went well.

The Giants hope Curry to bolster a linebacking corp depleted by the release of Michael Boley and the departure of Chase Blackburn, who signed with Carolina.

Curry, 27. spent two non-productive seasons with the Seahawks before being traded to the Raiders during the 2011 season. He hasn’t played since he was released by Oakland last November after playing in just two games.

Curry has had chronic knee problems during his career, and has just 5 1/2 sacks and 190 tackles in 48 games.

I’m forever optimistic when it comes to my Giants, and while I must readily admit I have not watched much tape on Aaron Curry, thanks to YouTube’s NYGiantCentral what little I have watched unfortunately isn’t all that impressive. So maybe he’s ready to step up, with no pressure to start, let alone account for wins. I am optimistic… he must step up, because Rivers will not suit up for 16 games… hey, I said optimistic, not insane.
