The NY Giants starting offense and defense has been released to the media and there really aren’t too many surprises.
via the Star-Ledger:
WR Hakeem Nicks
LT Will Beatty
LG Kevin Boothe
C David Baas
RG Chris Snee
RT Justin Pugh
TE Brandon Myers
WR Victor Cruz
QB Eli Manning
FB Henry Hynoski
RB David Wilson
It should be noted that Justin Pugh is indeed the starting RT, David Baas is listed at C which is a good sign. FB Henry Hynoski back at FB, Cruz and Nicks, Wilson of course — and all is right in the world on offense. Brandon Myers should be a threat assuming the OL holds up. Da’Rel Scott is listed as the #2 RB in the depth chart. I have faith in the second year guy – he has some fumbling problems to solve but he showed heart last game and got into the endzone.
LDE: Justin Tuck, Damontre Moore
LDT: Linval Joseph, Shaun Rogers
RDT: Cullen Jenkins, Mike Patterson
RDE: Mathias Kiwanuka, Jason Pierre-Paul
SLB: Keith Rivers
MLB: Dan Connor, Mark Herzlich
WLB: Spencer Paysinger, Jacquian Williams
LCB: Corey Webster, Jayron Hosley,Terrell Thomas
RCB: Prince Amukamara, Aaron Ross, Trumaine McBride
FS: Ryan Mundy
SS: Antrel Rolle
Free safety Ryan Mundy should add some physicality to the defense, hopefully he can do his job and come up with some key stops on third down so the offense can get back onto the field. The defensive line looks stout, with plenty of depth. No JPP though… interesting. Dan Connor is starting middle linebacker, no surprise there. Keith Rivers and Spencer Paysinger fill out the rest of the base 4-3 front 7.
Punt returner: Rueben Randle. Kick returner: Michael Cox.
We haven’t seen Randle return any punts this preseason, it makes me nervous having our #3 WR back there risking injury when Jernigan and Hosely have looked good. Michael Cox wrapped up KR duties the first preseason game.
Overall no big surprises – just no JPP
