Giants Commit 6 Turnovers in Brutal Loss to Cowboys

The final score was 36-31 in favor of the Cowboys, but anyone that watched last night doesn’t necessarily feel it was that close. With 6 give aways, the Giants simply gave the game away to the Cowboys Sunday night.

Eli Manning threw for 450 yards, 4 TDs and 3 INTs. Victor Cruz hauled in 3 of those TDs. While those numbers look impressive, it took quite a while for the offense to get moving. Looking back on it, failing to score off Ryan Mundy’s 91 yard interception return from the 1 yard line was perhaps the beginning of the end. That squandered opportunity was the perfect bridge from the preseason’s red zone issues to last nights abomination.

RB David Wilson was benched after his second fumble of the night. DaRel Scott was the target of an ill-timed screen pass that went for an INT later in the game.

Plusses were that TE Brandon Myers had a nice touchdown catch, and all of the Giants starting WRs went for over 100 yards.

  1. […] It was the depth of the struggle that surprised last night. Was it shocking that the Giants had a hard time in short yardage? Was it impossible to have foreseen the running game struggles? No. But what was shocking was the agonizing completeness of the mistakes. Terrible pass blocking by David Wilson, limited push by the offensive line, a bizarre reliance on the run game in the series after Wilson was removed, a subsequent all-out reliance on Eli. Bad blocking on screens. Poor routes. Bad decisions. 6 turnovers. […]
