Could O Line changes be in store this week?

Hearing Tom Coughlin’s press conference there is clearly some concern over the offensive line in terms of injury in particular David Baas and Chris Snee.  Both players were said to be having MRIs today.   If they cannot go then there would be a massive shakeup in the lineup.  Also, there was an item from The Record about David Diehl getting fitted for a special splint for his thumb to allow him to get back out on the field.

For the sake of argument, lets say both Snee and Baas cannot suit up this week, what would the Giants options be?

I would think that Kevin Boothe would move to center and James Brewer would take Boothe’s spot at LG.   Then Tom Coughlin would have a decision to make if Diehl is available.  Would he insert Diehl right away at RT in place of Justin Pugh?  Would he move Diehl inside to RG and keep Pugh at RT?

My hunch is the line would look like Beatty-Brewer-Boothe-Diehl-Pugh.

I don’t think they want to move Pugh inside or to the bench after being at tackle all this time.  Diehl is more versatile in that way and could probably step into the guard position much easier.   I would also think that the thumb injury for Diehl would be easier to manage on the inside than the outside where hand placement is so crucial.

If Diehl is not available you are probably looking at Brandon Mosley taking over Snee’s RG spot.

The bottom line is clearly Baas and Snee are not playing up to their normal levels and have looked unbelievably slow and not powerful.   Beatty, Boothe, & Pugh haven’t played well but at least they are healthy.  The Giants might have the decision to go with health over experience.

Their options are very limited in the case of injury.

You are so right. What the hell did they do in the off season. And why bring jacobs back when he clearly sucked when he was their on the team two years ago I don’t get it.

I have no problem with bringing Jacobs back. I’m confident he’ll excel with his 2nd chance.
However, …with no daylight created what-so-ever??? …it will be hard for all!
It’s back to the same ole crap! …They MUST avoid turn-overs & penalties!!!!
