Things are bleak in Giantland folks.  Very Bleak.  An 0-4 start has left Big Blue in a tailspin that they might never recover from.   This is a losing streak that could have huge ramifications from the top to the bottom of the franchise.

Amazingly, they still have one last shot given the ineptitude of the counterparts in the NFC Least.    With a return to winning ways and a touch of good fortune they can catapult themselves right back into the race.   They must treat these next 2 games as playoff games as without victories it’s over.  If they can find a way to reverse this horrendous losing streak they will be playing meaningful games into November and possibly December.

This is will all come to fruition starting Sunday afternoon at Metlife stadium and culminate in Solider field next Thursday night.   That’s all she wrote ladies and gentleman.   If the Giants win those 2 games they are back and probably in a big way.   Dallas has Denver this Sunday so chances are pretty good that Dallas will be 2-3 after this weekend.    The Cowboys follow up with the Redskins the next weekend.   The Redskins are on a bye this weekend.   If the Giants can win both games and Dallas drops the game vs. Denver then that would put NY at 2-4 and at best the Cowboys and Redskins could only be 3-3 or 2-3, respectively after Week 6.   Also, in that scenario the Eagles would at best be 2-4.

This team just needs a win anyway they can get it.   They need to scratch, fight and claw for it.   The question is do they have that in them?  After the Panthers game I criticized the team for having a lack of leadership.  I think I’m pretty much right on that but I must say I really like what Antrel Rolle is trying to do.   I agree with his message of whatever has happened is done with.  They still have a chance to turn everything around.  Tom Coughlin has taken the same track.  He is noticeably up beat and doesn’t seem to be ready to start benching and doing drastic things because he sees the glimmer of hope.  He knows that if they can start playing better football they have a chance to right the ship.

Crazier things have happened in the NFL so the door hasn’t been slammed shut on the Giants just yet.  The good thing is if they can’t turn it around we’ll know by next Thursday night and we’ll be able to concentrate our thoughts on next year’s draft.
